Going to Subway for lunch for a lovely meatball sub. With hot chili sauce. Yum. Just thought I'd share!

Anyone else going there? And what are you getting?

No! I saw some show on CH4 that said subway rolls have more salt in them than (at the very least (IE the veg roll)) 6 bags of crisps. As I was under the assumption Subway was supposed to be healthy I will not be eating there anymore.

I also saw a show about these cars that turn into robots some good, some bad but how can I be sure. I'm also boycotting auto mobiles.

That's pretty much my usual lunch, except with mayo instead of chili sauce.

The foot long contains about 7.5g of salt (/drool) which is more than you're RDA, but hey you only live once.

    Nope. No association with Subway.

Maybe its just me but I dont understand why people go for this healthy eating crap. If something tastes nice I'll eat it, end of story.
Why does it matter that it has .0003g salt in it? OH NOES!!
I'd eat dick if it tasted nice (i've tried and it doesnt) but there is nothing more frustrating than people who count calories and do all that stuff. If you dont want to get fat here is an idea...EXERCISE!!!!

You're welcome to one of the 600 outlets they have in Cork City Centre.

Lol that's actually true! I've seen two in the last two weeks that seemed to pop up overnight! Although I've been informed that they've been there for awhile and I just need to get out more.

Dammit I want Subway now. It was so much better when I lived next to one.

    Chicken Pizziana (sp?) ftw!

The healthy eating thing is about making a better choice for your body, sure you can eat rubbish but within reason.
If you don't want to get fat your diet will have a bigger influence on you than exercise.

Marinara sauce surely? Toasted hearty Italian, extra cheese, onion, olive, peppers and pickles with parmesan and oregano shake. That's the sub Jesus would have.

Has anyone else tasted the swedish meatball ragu hot wraps in the pret-a-manger chain of sandwich shops in london?

Oh my god! they are delicious (and only 500 calories), these days the first place i visit when i'm in london, is a pret-a-manger for one of these tasty creations...

Dawn Farm Foods, which supplies the Subway chain, has withdrawn some of its cooked meat products due to a salmonella scare.

The company said that as a precaution it had withdrawn batches of beef, chicken and bacon from the made-to-order sandwich trade.

Potentially contaminated meat was supplied to Subway, which has confirmed that specific batches of its Philly Style Steak and Chicken Fajita products have been withdrawn from sale.

    Still tempted?

I think its awful. It just doesn't taste like a roll should....bleagh. There was a place just called Murphy's on Baggot St (maybe) that used to be the king of all things sandwich...Not sure if its still there.

If it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger!

I was going to have a meatball sub yesterday evening but decided on the bacon, ham and turkey melt instead. I put it in my bag and on the way home I was starving so I popped in for a kebab as well. Had the subway when I got back to my apt., was well stuffed after it!

Subway - "Eat Fresh" - what a lie

A lot of the meat they use is 'reformed meat'. Reformed meat consists the pieces of meat that cant be cut from the animal, ie. the waste meat left over. Its usually stuck to the skin or bone of the carcass, which are sent though a scraping machine or a power hose. All the loose 'meat' is then heated and a load of additives, preservatives and bonding chemicals are added to bind it together. The resulting mix is then poured into a cast to get its shape.

Also the tomatoes they use are far bigger than anything you can by in a supermarket. They must be genetically modified or else pumped full of growth hormones.

The only thing fresh is the salmonella

but there is nothing more frustrating than people who count calories and do all that stuff. If you dont want to get fat here is an idea...EXERCISE!!!!

Weight control by exercise alone? You should really bring this idea to market as it would make you a millionaire.

How about if you don't want high blood pressure? Or if you don't want an onset of type two diabetes? Please share your exercise only plan for these complaints. This should see you into the billionaire leagues.

It's great that you can eat what you want (me too) but you have to realise that does not work for everybody.
I'd eat dick if it tasted nice (i've tried and it doesnt)

    Was it a foot long?

Nope there are tomatoes that size, remember them a lot from holidays when younger. Think they are beef eater tomatoes if I remember correctly.

As for the reformed meat you are right but then again if you enjoy a nice irish fry you will be having pretty much the same meet in a sausage.

That show a couple of weeks ago on the sanbo industry was a real eye opener. The facts about the different main retailers was pretty amazing, subway was about the worst or was it gregs, pret (which are part owned by the golden arches, and taste so damn good) where bad and their labels and statements are a load of horse dodo. Boots came out looking the best of a bad bunch.

Ireland really sucks compared to the likes of London for lunch options.

Just like most the meat everywhere. All that sliced ham you see in the supermarket is the same no matter what the brand is trying to tell you. Most people haven't a clue what real meat even looks like.

Please ignore this person. He is telling a lie. I can confirm this because I just got my subway and it was not awful, if anything it was marvelous!!!

Meatballs, melted cheese, pickles, tomatoes, peppers and that Southwest sauce. Tasty indeed.

Subway bread tastes wrong. Subway sandwiches are always below par imitations of a decent sandwich that you'd get somewhere like the Pig and Heifer on Pearse Street.

Booooo to Subway I say. Boo!
