Yeah, driving rain and thunder all day, one of my mates is stranded on the M1, apparantly loads of people have abandonned their cars due to the floods. Quite the blow for Armagh fans...

It's been a pretty decent day in Sligo so far, starting to get a bit of drzzle now though.

Northside Dublin got a constant bucketting of godpiss from about 430 until 6, and it's still raining now at 630pm.

Ballymun road going Northbound is just Hell on Earth and I imagine Swords road is worse.

I've just returned home after a day in the city centre. Without a coat. Or an umbrella.

God, I haven't been so drenched in quite a while! Summer me hole.

Yeah apparently Glasnevin Avenue is completely flooded. There's a brief lull now so I was thinking of going for a cycle to see how bad it is.

My daughter is stuck in inpassable flooding on the M50

And my Bro-in-Law just arrived to tell me that the south bound lands of the Toll Tunnel were open (free of charge) to releave traffic on the M1 due to flooding at Coolock/Santry.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

It's nuts here. Was on me way home from training and just ran through it.

    Great fun:D

M1 flooded just before the POrt Tunnel too. Traffic can go no where.

Jaysus - what time was that at? Took us an hour to get out of Omni today (partially because it was close to closing time but a lot because Irish people panic at the first sight of rain and become psychos behind the wheel) - luckily got a call before we got out to say to avoid Santry Lane; went right down the Swords Road which was busy but not flooded.

Omni was starting to flood too earlier.

    It's nuts up here.

Tolka Park ain't the best from what I'm hearing either:(

Boyfriend is stuck on the bus in city centre, traffic is mental apparently. Not much flooding in Ballymun just little bits... Might there have been a crash on the m50 also? Lots of ambulances and firebrigades going past my apartment on Ballymun Road...

Omni is the Shopping Centre in Santry btw Peared.

We had some lovely sun today in Kilkenny. Rain started about 2 hours ago but its just showery. Its crazy to see the pics of Dublin. I lived there the last time the quays and Tolka brought the city to a standstill. After that I thought there was going to be some sort of flood relief scheme on the Tolka?

Mairt, I live in the "apartments" ;) not the high rise buildings!! But shush, everyone else calls these ones apartments too!

Finglas Road between Phibsboro and Tesco is pants. Two sections flooded, guards were directing us up onto the sidewalk which was sweet.

Was delighted when a muppet in his 08 BMW decided his car would definitely make it through the floods without the aid of the sidewalk. If I could be bothered rolling down my window to cheer when he got stuck, I would have.

Smell of shit down by the river btw. Stayed in the car for ages after we passed the flood :(

I think this is all my fault... at 1:53pm today I wished for pissing rain so my neighbour would stop trimming his damn hedge with one of those loud electric trimmer things.

You must be around where it dips near kippure park? This area's usually high enough to avoid flooding.

Its after taking me 2 hours 10 minutes to get from beaumont to work in leixlip.
I left my house at exactly 6pm, crazy.

Floods everywhere around santry, I was on the way out from the back of beaumont hospital to the road that has northside shopping centre on it. It was the T junction part just beside the coolock M1 exit/roundabout. I made a brave move through a "puddle" which no one else was going through. The big red and white road barriers were floating in it, my car started chugging as I had just made it through. Couldn't believe it :)

Here's a pic of the M1 just at the port tunnel. Check out the car in the middle of the flood! There were another one on the same side and another 3 on the outbound side! Why didn't I have my D40

Blanch is a nightmare. The Tolka River has burst its banks. Here's some pics posted on the Dublin 15 forum:

I'd advise any pedestrians in Dublin 15 near floods to stay inside because footpaths are being used to bypass floods. I've witnessed this several times in Ongar. MADNESS!
