durrr better at cash and hellmuth better at tourneys is the way it stands at the moment but you cant compare things like this.. durrr is young and in 20 years could have 15 bracelets and over 20 years hellmuth could start focusing on high stakes cash and beat it.. i doubt either will happen though but there's too much of an age difference and difference in games to bother trying to compare

dont think so..... saw jason bourne under cover as a poker player in some film a few years back and he was goot!

    .

He's not phenomenal though. He made one pretty thin value raise with like the 2nd or 3rd nuts very deep to value stack himself IIRC, and seems to have a tendency to check, check, check trap people.(said in a a russian accent obv)

He doesn't have the skillz to cooler everyone in like a 4way monster pot like James Bond does anyway.

Phil hellmuth is a somewhat skilled poker player who is profitable in live tournaments. He has ran above expectation in winning 11 bracelets even when fields were a lot smaller. Using results in tournaments to rank players in order of skill is dumb anyway nevermind the "he has 11 bracelets, 6 jazillion pages of cashes on his cardplayer profile and 182million in winnings. Like someone said if someone with a basic clue of what they are doing plays enough tournaments they will win one eventually.

Imo durrr is greater than PH at pretty much all variations of poker.

Totally agree, I never saw Jason Bourne play a hand as well as Bond did, he won something like £100m+, so clearly he's the greatest player of all time!!

The question should really be "who is better craic?"

Dwan would bore he bollix out of you. Hellmuth has a tank.

So Helmuth has plenty of tourney wins. Wow,
But hendom mob doesn't show all the events he enters and looses.
Or the fact that he spews money on side cash action. And trys to think he can play forms of poker outside HE, eg losing c.!million to Ivey in chinese poker

the only reason why hellmuth has a ton of bracelets and cashs is because he's played every wsop event he could for the last 20 years. durrrr only turned 21 this year. pretty sure if durrr was suitably motivated he could easily surpass hellmuth's success in a smaller timeframe.*

hellmuth has been playing tourneys for aslong as durrr has been alive..he's easily better at them and knows the situations and how to play the weaker fields better than everyone.. as regards cash and poker in general durrr is one of the best if not the best..everyone knows that.. any other matters you wanna discuss poker wise i'm all up for it..i love arguing.. i should be at jp's blinkers game tomorrow..i'll be the cute one:pac:

he beats the best players in the world, i'm pretty sure he can handle a bunch of tourny donks better than even the great phil hellmuth jr.

a better thread would be.. who's luckiest?

as far as this one goes, durrr has played ridiculously more hands than hellmuth, against the best of opponents too, so we have to assume durrr is teh greatest.. still though, his immaturity is pretty much on par with hellmuths..

Which makes the fact that Durr has played more hands even more impressive.
If people seen the number of entrants in the WSOP fields in earlier days if might change opinins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭cuterob

but he's beating the fields these days too????? but really these arguments are pointless especially on teh tinternet forums with people who cant let go!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,588 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

But how many events does he enter?

He has a great record, and is a great tourney player. But if we had access to his full results, events entered, profit/loss and money spewed on the side via games he doesn't understand, then opinions would change

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,956 ✭✭✭CHD

Hellmuth is the luckiest tourny donk around who plays so many events squashed into a month or so every year. When do you ever hear about him apart from when hes making a tool out of himself on high stakes poker and going crazy on poker after dark.

When he final tables a few EPT and takes down a couple of WPT and other events then he might be the best tourny player ever. But right now alls he really is is a lucky nit who has a huge ego and a the most bracelets.

Look at the events he has won his bracelets in aswell.Jamie Gold beat more people in 1 tournament than Hellmuth did in all his wsop wins put together, therefore imo Gold is a better player :pac:

i think the exact same , phil is good to watch an all that , and made his money when their was alot less compitition about. all you need to do is go to pokertube and look at how durr owns him through the hole session , phil has nuthing on him , durrs style is the kinda that would put phil on tilt after 3 hands , f you watch the poker after dark cash on poker tube its actualy so funny durr makes phil look like an irish pub player on poker afd.
the only thing that bugs me about dwan is that stupid groany way he talks

hellmuth has a massive ego thats his prob , altho i do find him entertaining to watch , i recall one hand on high stakes poker where he lost a decent sized pot , his AJ vs negraunus A10, negraunu hit 2 pair, was bet called all the way... After a hellmuth blowup for around 3 minutes he sat back down then said, "Nice hand daniel", was bloody hilarious :)

Dont forget when hellmuth was playing vs (i wish i cud remember the guys name, they got into a fight b4, punches were thrown! ) in the WSOP main event. He had the nut flush and literally just called the guy down knowing he had him beat , just to make him suffer more.. The guy was abusing hellmuth all match long. Next hand hellmuth put him out of his misery, it was really good to watch..

Sam Grizzle (funny mo fo) was the guy who whipped hellmuth around the place . how much would you pay to see it happen ?

    ..

Think this was the one you're on about.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8O8a_un_r8

Hellmuth calls a 3-bet oop with A4o and proceeds to get valuetowned.
The stuff that waiting lists are made of at 1/2 on the interweb

Durr seeming to bite his lip here to stiffle laughing is quite amusing - also the classic argument in the comments underneath

**my 5 year old nephew asked me to post this for him....(LAG.. )

**Phil Hellmuth has only won 11 bracelets because he plays lots of tournaments (at least 11 anyway) and is a very lucky player. Example : It's a known fact that he is 11 times more lucky than any player who has won just 1 bracelet . There is no other player who plays a lot of tournaments , so he is cheating to be playing all dem tournaments..ments... This is the only explanation as to how he has won 11 and nonebody else has...... .not even Durr

Hellmuth the cheat, how can anyone even mention him in the same breath as Durr, unless saying bad things... If Durr played the same amount of tournys, he would have 70 million bracelets and he would also behave himself better for the TV poker bosses and everyone would smile and help the viewers go to bed early for school...

ALso Doyle Bronson looks like my grandad

Dino, aged 4 years and 7 months and 2 days.
