Answer - the thugs who terrorise a Dublin housing estate.

I was listening to RTE radio earlier in the day and they were talking about it. Was it last night it happened or the night before? It was some housing estate in Dublin but apparently 2 gaurds got a hiding (one a woman) and they just could not bring things under control. Gun shots apparently were fired by some of the troublemaking youths and cars burned out in what was discribed as a 'riot'. The woman on the radio was a resident - the only one apparently brave enough to talk about it in the estate - scared something might happen to her or her family. I was listening intently and was symphathetic until she mentioned the inevitable chesnut - giving them 'new houses' (the residents). Then I thought some of these gurriers must be from at least some of these family's on this particular estate.

Anyways either way it seemed pretty disturbing stuff and whats more - little or nothing in the media about the incident. The Gaurds really need to get their act together. Fair enough it not an easy job but they were effectively beaten by a bunch of drunken young thugs who 'could have taken control of the estate after'. Also a senior gaurd said starting tonight there would be 'zero tolerance' in the area. Why 'starting tonight' - this has been going on in areas all over the country for years. What do they mean by 'zero tolerance' anyway - putting them in front of a judge to go out the revolving door the next day!?

Also this was apparently not the only 'riot' in Dublin over the last few days.

    What area?

If the cops hit anyone they would be brought up on charges because of some liberal hippy ****ers.

Sorry I meant 17 drunken Grizzlys against 60 gardai. The bears are drunk, not the police.

Why can't people understand that the guards can't just go in with batons and start cracking heads, there trained to cause minimal injury by restraining a person and that can sometimes take 2-3 even 4 guards depending on the person,if they were allowed go in and take any means necessary which do you think would win then?63 guards armed with batons and protective body armour or 70 eejits?

Judging by what I heard 70 eejits. Two guards got the crap kicked out of them. I mean come on. Any other police force would have to get heavy handed in those circumstances and at least make even one arrest!

Some of the guards had full riot gear apparently! Though I think they turned up later of course.

They aren't allowed go in and take any means necessary though which to be fair they should be allowed, remember the Dublin riot where a guard was recorded hitting a few people with a baton and he was brought to court over it and it was found to be justified, shouldn't have even gotten to court as it clearly showed him defending a colleague.

Should have a better system for dealing with those situations - if theres a riot go in take any action necessary to contain or disperse it and then worry about the people that took part in the riot that might have broken a nail.

The grizzlies would win unless the pool was incredibly deep.

Definately a proportion. Interesting the contributer living there never mentions it. I think someone else does though. Wouldnt be supprised if its majority locals.

Only if you fit the Grizzlys in a wetsuit with a rebreather of sorts.

What about 5 midgets against a gorilla?

Two of the midgets are allowed to have knives (midget knives obviously).

    That's what I said.
Liberal hippy fúcks telling us that the Gardai shouldn't be allowed hit rioters.
The thing is, those fúcks don't have to live anywhere near this crap.

I have scars on my head and back that disprove they use minimal force. By the way, I am not a criminal but happened to be on a peaceful picket at the time.

All under four foot ten. The knives have to be small enough not to look silly.

If a midget carrying a knife is killed or has its limbs ripped off by the gorilla another midget may pick up and use the knife, unless he's a smaller midget, in which case the silliness rule applies.

The gorilla is "Congo" sized (as opposed to "King Kong" sized) but is not super-aggressive like the Congo gorillas (or Phil Ivey). The gorilla has no formal training in martial arts or weapons use.

The gorilla is entitled to a fitness coach for a period of three weeks before the fight.

At least two of the midgets must be Mexican.

    The midgets must wear hats.

If a midget wears a hat that is deemed cumbersome a judging panel he is permitted to compensate by use of a knife (all other knife rules still apply).

4'10? ****, there could be the event that the gorilla doesn't attack?

I'll give 9/4 odds so, if you can factor in macing the gorilla and playing the Killers on repeat for his training period I'll bump that up to 9/1.

it was 70 scumbags, thats a minority, and if you see the gardai/the EHB and corpo sit back and let those scumbags run an area then the majority loose faith.

Caught something brief on radio, trouble involving Rovers and Bohs supporters in Phibsboro before a match and then then trouble later in the night near the Millenium bridge, very little reporting of it, sure I heard they were related incidents but if anyone can correct me. Someone said they were discussing it on liveline.

Go in tear gas, tasers, batons, dogs, horses and kick the crap out of them, don't bother arresting them as they'll be released the next day with our stupid "justice" system

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭Dinter

Apparently it's known that 63 Gardai responded because one of the residents counted them.

It's a scare story by the whining parasites that live there to illustrate the breakdown in law and order so they can get another free house somewhere else.

Instead of trying to renogotiate another contract with a developer to provide the housing DCC should just build a fukin massive prison. It'd all be the same in the long run.

Dinter. I lived in O'Devaney for 17 years (from 1974 - 1991) and I had fantastic neighbours and friends. None of us ever got into trouble and me and my brothers have all made a success out of our lives. Our family moved out of their in the early 90's.

Granted there are some absolute scum bags living there at the moment but there are a lot of hard working decent people who just want to get out. Unfortunately they cant be moved as there is nowhere apparantly to put them. The residents of O'Deveney were promised that if they moved from one part of the estate to the other (while part of it was been closed off and demolished) that they would be given a house/apartment as part of the regeneration project. These people took the council at their word and moved into different accomodation(they didnt want to but they couldnt stay in a flat that was being demolished).

What you have now is half of the esate boarded up and looking absolutely terrible. The other part is full of people wanting to get out and on the other side of the coin you have scumbags who want to terrorise the decent people living there.

If I was in the council I would find out who was causing the trouble and tell their parents that if their kids/teenagers cause any more trouble then the whole family will be left in that flat to rot and then the council can concentrate on housing the decent people and believe me there are a lot of decent people living in O'Devaney.

The Millenium bridge incident was a completely separate incident as far as I'm aware. I'd just like to point out these these "supporters" are not in fact supporters but are toerags who use football as an excuse to have a mill up. They're banned from the ground so there's not much else the club can do . Just to make people aware, that while I don't condone it or anything like it, most of these fights are pre-arranged by the same idiots each time, and are nothing to do with the supporters of either club.

I agree with Gazzar, target the parents of the trouble makers, stop their benefits and refuse to re-house them. They would soon get their scumbag kids inline. I dont know why the cops cannot have a few of their members videoing and photographing the scum, then identify them and pick them up of the street when they are not expecting it. These kinds of people love the herd mentality but isolate and grab them and see how they like it.
