Myth or fact about abs

I read on a website before, (I know, not the most reliable place), that only some people can get the 6-pack abs you see on tv. Some people will get 6-packs and some others won't. No matter how hard they try, it's because of their genetics. Thats what I read. I'm just wondering, is it true or not?

    *Edit*:

No, I don't know the website. It was awhile ago. It just popped into my head today, and I was wondering about it!

In a way its true but not for the reason stated, only some people will get six pack abs as only some people have dedication to follow something through.

    Bullsh!t.

Check out the guy in the red t-shirt in this vid; http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=j_lKrISptN8 (watch from 1.44 on). It was shot exactly one year ago to the month. Bet you think he couldn't have a six pack??

    Look at him now; http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o443/birtdaycake/IMG_1917.jpg

genetics to an extent do determine your muscular shape.
for instance bodybuilders would have more type 2 muscle fibres than general population.

then there are people with high metabolisms (ectomorphs), and people with slow metabolisms (endomorphs).
usually an ectomorph will find it easier for their abs to show than an endomorph.

abs however, are a endurance muscle group, and everyone has abs. most peoples abs are covered by a layer of fat, and the only way to show them really is to lose body fat percentage, and getting that percentage down to about 12 or less.

in short, everyone can get their bodyfat low enough with good training and good eating. it just might be easier for certain people than others :)

Wow, that was quick replies. Anyway, I can't watch that youtube video. Work won't allow it, but I get what your saying.

So the basic jist is, everyone has a 6-pack, and some can get them easier then others. Would they be the 6-pack you see on tv, or would it sort've be a flat stomach?? Like once you lost the fat around your stomach, would it be a flat stomach or 6-pack abs? i.e do you need to do weighs for your abs for them to look better/show?

The vid's of this guy; http://www.elitefts.com/images/PICTURES/Marc-Bartley-outcome.jpg (that's the before photo, I've already posted the after).

If you want "deep" abs, like ones you could stick coins in, then you're gonna need to get bigger and stronger overall. If you want "fightclub" abs, then not so much.

Holy sh1t!! That's some transformation. Just shows these guys at the top of powerlifting really have the balls to be the best at whatever takes their eye. "Spud" only started powerlifting in his 30's and got up to squatting 1200+lbs, has more degrees than a protractor and runs Spud Inc Straps, didn't know he'd been trying to lose weight though. Unsurprisingly he rules at that too!!

I bought a Spud dipping belt only last week, but mainly because it was a pretty yellow...:)

I dunno if he did 1200+ in comp tho...??

He blew out his knee HORRIBLY last year attempting 11something. He's been fubar'd since then so he got in touch with Shelby at Troopin Nutrition (the same guys that helped Dave Tate) and they helped him with a diet. I think his leg's pretty much back to full power now tho and he's getting back into serious training.

His logs on EliteFTS.com if oyu'e interested!!

Oh and that Spud Inc gear is AWESOME looking.

No I think it was in training. I just read of him being referred to as a 1200+ squatter.
