The most under-rated comedy on TV is back in the US for it's 4th season next month (or September 18th to be precise).

Hasn't really hit it big over here at all. But then again, it is on Channel 6!

No real promo trailers yet on the Web, apart from a very odd but quite funny music video:

brilliant....they had a few good promos before season 3 as well if I remember right but nothing like that.

Can't wait for the new season...demented and genius!

I did indeed.. and also the waitress that Charlie is always pursuing is actually Charlie's Day real life wife.

Jesus it's been so long since I saw season 3 I nearly forgot about the show altogether. Great show. Between this and Entourage, next month is shaping up to be a good un.

Just in case you didn't know; the guys will be working on a new show called Boldly Going Nowhere once S4 of Philly is complete.
The show will be a mix of comedy and sci-fi and will contain the day to day life of an intergalactic spaceship controlled by a rogue captain.

Sounds fantastic! Does this mean that season 4 will be the final season? It would probably be a good thing if it were the case as the consistency may falter a bit for a fifth season.

I've watched the last 3 season over the last 3 weeks. Brilliant. Charilie is on of the biggest ******* on tv.

    Cant wait for season 4

Just a reminder... back last night!

I'll append "Spoilers" to the title when people start discussing it. I've read a few places online that say the first 2 of season 4 were very disappointing... say it ain't so! :(

I've read on a couple of TV blogs that they have been greenlit for up to season 6 (13 episodes in each season) so it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. Which is great if they can keep the quality up - which I'm sure they can. Practically every episode is a classic :).

The first two episodes were pretty good.. but the second one was infinitely better than the first - probably due to the fact the second episode just felt more like an 'Always Sunny' episodes with the gang trying to get rich (and inevitably failing).

And once again, Charlie Day stole the show with one line... wait for it:

I enjoyed both the new episodes. Charlie just cracks me up.

His facial expressions throughout the bank loan interview were priceless.

I didn't enjoy Season 3 all that much and when I read that these two episodes were a disappointment I was worried I wouldn't make it through the whole season, but I thought episode 1 was at least decent and 2 was pretty damn good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

The 2nd episode was definitely stronger - really felt sorry for the poor guy they thought was Bruce! It was all good though, the bank loan, the van tinted windows from the inside, Frank's "memories" from First Blood and of course Charlie as the wildcard :D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 987 ✭✭✭ekevosu

Only seen the first episode so far but it was solid enough, enjoyable.

Both episodes were very good again - that episode was just great, totally taking the p**s out of reality shows in general :).

I loved how Mac "went with his heart" by choosing the two chicks that banged him (and each other) :D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,571 ✭✭✭The Don

Great episodes. When Dee was interviewing Dennis and the green man ran in and kicked him in the balls I was in stitches. Charlie is brilliant.

    Love the pic smiddyboy :D

Yeah, the weakest episode so far though.

but i liked it...so it must be good.

Watched ep4+5+6. Its good. Alot of good side characters. Lots of mad situations that they've gotten themselves into. Loved the "new Charlie" bit :D

Yep, this season is kicking arse!

Biggest laugh in the new episode was after they went to the pawn shop and got the grenade, and Charlie is formulating a plan. And it pans out to reveal Mac in the wedding dress.

    Oh, how i LOL'd! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

Dee on the bus was absolutely hilarious too :D! The whole episode was mad as usual, great stuff so far this season.

I've only seen 1 and 2 but they have been priceless

    Is this the last season?

No, good news is FX has ordered an additional 39 episodes.

So you're looking at another 2 seasons at least.

Did they announce at one stage it was the last? I have it my head that they were planning something else. Same people but something different

They're planning some space comedy alright.. but I don't think they're starring. They'll just be producers.

I was expecting this entire season to possibly go way down in quality but I've been pleasantly surprised !

I was in tears laughing when you first see frank with "new charlie" in the latest episodes though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭Rollo Tamasi

Poor episode this week. I didn't get into it at all.
    Very below par imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭c - 13

Aye, was definitely below the normal standard alright. A couple of good moments in it though.

I still love the fact they made it to season 4 without anyone ever getting the waitresses' real name.
If they keep the waitress on the bottle now they could open a whole new bunch of scenarios I think. She's a funnier char when wasted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

Didn't expect much from an episode that entirely relied on poop jokes and it probably was the weakest episode of the season. Dee's attempts to emulate the "Sex and the City" life style were pretty funny in some places - like when she went shopping for shoes...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,193 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I wouldn't say it was a terrible episode.. though very low brow and the weakest of the season. Almost reminded me of a South Park episode!

There was still some funny moments in it: "Hi my name is Artemis and I bleach my asshole."

You dont find out, anytime she goes to say it someone talks over her/cuts her off/something happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,571 ✭✭✭The Don

I thought that the last episode was pretty good. It was toilet humour but it seemed to me that they were taking the piss out of that type of humour. Maybe it was the way they played it so seriously. Loved the look on Mac's face when he woke up and found the turd there.:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭c - 13

No Sign of the McPoyles this season so far actually now that I think of it. Hope they make it into at least one episode.

They are in prison arent they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭c - 13

No they got left go IIRC.

Just checked an episode guide there and the last lot of episodes they were definately in were -
Season 3, Ep 2: The Gang Gets Invincible
Mac, Dennis and Dee try out for the Philadelphia Eagles. Also interested in becoming an Eagle is Liam and Ryan McPoyle's brother, Doyle.

Season 3, Ep 4: The Gang Gets Held Hostage
The McPoyles hold the entire gang hostage at Paddys while Frank is busy searching for his will in the air ducts.

And they ran off at the end of the hostage episode. I cant remember if that had a small part in any after that.

"Paddy's Pub: The Worst Pub in Philadelphia" was one of the best episodes so far this season... the whole thing just cracked me up, from the critic's reviews, to kidnapping the neighbor, his diabetic cat, Charlie eating from the urinal... Everything was great about this episode - and the first one in ages without Frank but the rest of the gang more than made up for his absence. Funny stuff :D.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,584 ✭✭✭c - 13

Yep agreed. Definate improvement on last week.

Enjoyed this one a lot. Once again, Charlie stole the show completely.

    I love the part
where they go to talk to the Journalist and they're trying to be reasonable and the camera pans back and charlie is standing there with the hammer
    :D

    Charlie is a legend.

Great episode. Mac thinking he's a cooler like Dalton in Road house. Charlie was excellent.
We'll hit him over the back of the head, plant yesterdays newspaper and he'll think it was all a dream
    :D
