    Hey all

Whats the prognosis on this?? Is it any good for fitness??

I go to the gym but could do with something I could do at home on days where time is of the essence and it LOOKS fun...

It's no more than a toy tbh.

However, I have shocking flexibility and wanted to learn about stretches but not go to a yoga class.
Tried completing the stretches and it's actually very well designed. I think it's a better way to learn than watching some DVD and trying to copy off the TV.

I've not exactly been doing sessions of this but it could be useful for that.

No substitute for going to a class though.

adding to this thread rather than create a new one..

we just got the wii fit board and find the yoga, balance and stretches really useful. I would be interested to hear from anyone who practises yoga, or even teaches, who has tried this, to see what they think?

I'd say it is a beneficial addition to regular exercise for me and could help with general tone and flexibility -I currently am training for the marathon, so running is my thing, so it's also nice to have a bit of variety!!

D'ya reckon it could handle a 250kg squat?

Now that would be worth the money (of a new wii)

    Man that vid was funny!!

Wii fine for a bit of fun and a sweat for those that are lazy buggers but if your looking to get in shape then forget about it

    Party piece at best

Hey! I'm not a lazy bugger but some of the yoga had me sweating!

We'll see if I lose any kg following daily 30 minutes on it..

I think its an excellent addition to peoples daily routine, it motivates an interest in exercise, it teaches you basics of yoga and muscle exercises and its aerobic exercises, although hardly effective are more like a game than an exercise which can help those who have a mental block against exercising. All in all i really like it.

I'm enjoying it, it's different to my normal routine, and I've no excuse, even if it's raining!

    Hi

I bought a Wii Fit about a week ago.

I have found it to be a great tool for encouaging the whole family to exercise.

The fact that it is a game takes the work out of exercise and gets everyone involved.

The yoga may be basic but this necessary for beginners if it was made to difficult people would be put off using it.

I would recommend this to anyone as any increase in activity can't be bad.

It will probably have lazy bastards convinced that they're actually doing excersise though so they'll never bother to go to the gym

Those type of people would be lazy enough to not bother with the gym at all and if they did go it wouldnt last long before they got bored.

Agreed, but when they cop on that their 3 stone overweight they'll probably won't try excercising as they excercised before (on the Wii Fit) and it didn't help. Hard to believe but I do know people who bought it thinking that it actually gets you fit

Lets not lose the run of ourself now - its a toy, its fun, easy and everyone can have a go.

all the best experts in the world would say exercise needs to be vigorous, increase heart rate to fitness levels, inculde progression etc so yes wii is a good start for people who are used to sitting on their arse all the time but i think its just another toy that keeps people thinking that they are some how magically going to get in shape through this play thing.

You want to do yoga - go do a class or buy a dvd for home use. You want to look fantastic? Well the people that look great didn't get there by playing feckin' wii
