I'd buy it if I had the money and space.

It must use the Ford Windsor 302c.i. V8, which have bucket loads of torque.

    i also liked these
The Ford Cortina XR6 Mark V, which was only available in four door form, was powered by the 3.0 litre (183 cu. in.) It was launched in 1981, following the 3.0S Mark IV, and was powered by a 140 HP Essex V6 engine, coupled with a four speed gearbox. The rear suspension of this car was a unique five-link setup instead of the more fragile trailing-arm system of the European Cortina. The reason for this modification was to cope with South African road conditions.
Mid-June 1982 brought about the birth of the Cortina XR6 Interceptor. This was a real true blue Ford and has become a very sought after collectors item. This car included modified exhaust headers, camshaft, cylinder heads, high compression pistons, a 3.08 differential and, most important, three 42 Webers. This very special car also boasted 13" alloy rims. This combination became a legend on both race track and on the street. Only 250 of these were ever made.

I have some of those south african magazines and they featured the Sierra which in 1989 was still the Mark 1 version and not the contemporary 87 version onwards

    :D Unkel, Jaaa! Swaer!!
South Africa was fortunate in that the licencing fees were never punitive for large engines,in fact, 1300 and 1600cc engines were what mommy and students used (nearly said wimps) and the other was that NCT happened when you bought a car and again when you sold it.

Had a Cortina mark 3 3.0 litre and a mark1V 3.0 l as well, but Cortina's and the later Sierra were seen as farmers ferrari's and looked down on.

If I recall, Basil Green (who did the Mark1 Ford capri V8 Perana) did the 5.0l Sierra but I think there were a lot more Cortina interceptors floating around than 250.
what really wound the SA Clocks was when BMW SA shoehorned a 3.3L 6 into a BMW 3 E30 series and sent a few cars to Germany.

it lead to the M3 but was banned outright by Germany as being Kamikazes.
a good BMW 333 sells or about E7,000 in SA now with the uprated suspension and brakes.

But then the other good bit, Traffic Police in SA were mostly broke.

seirras are great and all but a v8 is a waste of time, they lose enough traction as it is in a 2.0 let alone a v8....

While we're on the topic of Cortina's, I recently came across these Argentinian Ford Falcon's (which very much resemble a Cortina Mk4/5):

Fitted a 2.8V6 + g/box into my old 1.3 Mk IV way back when I couldn't afford / find a 2.8i Capri. Great acceleration due to a x.xx rear axle but top end not great like a real factory job. Left the 1.3 badges on it as well:D

Down in Oz the Cortina TE/TF ( Mk IV /V ) had 3.3 /4.1 straight 6 engines in them and different bumpers http://www.fordcortina.net/ , and they built them in Argentina as well - while I think of it they built a Cortina 1100 for Nigerian tax rules, and a 'narrowed' Cortina for Japan's width rules.
    Don't forget the SouthAfrican P100 pick-up , with a standard 3.0V6 as well !

PS - I also bought 2 (!!! ) Taunus coupes down in Kildare one time, a yellow one and a red one. 2 of us brought down a Sierra and car trailer with the intention of driving one back, but it wouldn't run, so we put a rope onto the trailer and had us a CONVOY  Those were the days !:) Sold them to some chap in Kilkenny when I got them running.
