who was slamming the garda? I've nothing against guarda, but I don't think they should be allowed to brake up partys which they do constantly, people should be allowed party when they want and where they want....Garda don't make the rules, they just enforce them, some laws good, some bad...

Garda slamming is not cool, they do a good job and i'm happy we have them.....

Public order offences are taken seriously. Usually the guards only act where a complaint has been made. If a party goes past 11/12 PM in a housing estate, it's bad form, and we will act on complaints where necessary.

Selfish pr**ks get their parties shut down, not decent ordinary party goers.

The Gardai don't break up party's for the "fun of it". They do it if drugs are being consumed or alcohol is being consumed illegally. I fully support them crashing partys and shutting it down for such reasons - in fact, they need to do it more.

Indeed they do a good job. :)

So what if people are having a spiff and a bottle of bud, what business is it of the Garda or anyone else....as long as there all consenting adults and nobody is getting hurt.....

I completley disagree with your opinion that more partys should be shut down, I think we should be having more partys.....but i'm going shut my mouth and leave it at that as this thread will start to go completley off topic....

Drugs are illegal. Under age drinking is also illegal. If you break the law, expect to get arrested. Its not a silly law.

Have all the party's you like, as long as it sticks within the law. To many people are dying from taking drugs, and all in house party's. More enforcement is needed.

Who's laws?, was I consulted on any of them?, do I think there fair?, do they create more problems than they solve?

I'll live my life the way I choose not by any book of rules, this is a free world, the quicker Draconian thinking is put to bed for good the better, society and people deserve more freedom and respect.

This isnt a free country. There are laws in place for a reason, and you will have no choice to live with them if you wish to live in peace in this country. Clearly a lot of people agree - as if a law was in place nobody liked, we would have heard about it.

Talk about a naive post! I think you should take it to the Legal Discussion or something. You are subject to the law as much as the rest of us are, yet you are the only one whining about it. The day your son/daughter (God forbid) dies from underage alcohol intoxication or is attacked and knifed by a drugged up teenager you might reconsider the implications of such a stance.

Look at Britain for an example of what happens when the law is too relaxed. Laws are there to prevent selfish people from acting like muppets, they always hurt people eventually with their habits.

I'd be pretty pissed off and would make it my mission to end you. Now if you were smart like me you wouldn't get caught, you might even get in a few rapes, quick bit of incest and some gay bashing and still have a free life, the only crime is getting caught.....rules mean nothing when your on a mission.

Big stretch between going to a rave and murder....One is the most serious of crimes and the other is none of anyone elses business....

You sound like a very productive addition to society. Well done.

You sound like a right pain in the hole to live near, someone who thinks they are above the law and can be as disruptive to others as you live. Get rid of laws and you will have pitchfork weilding vigalante mobs to deal with, and tbh you sound like you deserve a pitchfork up the hole.

Ah so you do have a rulebook - its just a tad different then the common rulebook?

Here was me thinking you had the attitude you were free to do what you wanted to do and when you wanted to do it - forgetting about all the laws in existence.

Of cource I believe in murder is a crime, i'm not a complete headbanger...

What would happen someone banned him? He doesnt belive in rules so would the system reject any attempt to do something he doesnt want to happen?

I think a mod should try it and see what happens. The world might end or something.

My point was that illegal drugs at party's and under age drinking should be looked into. Why? Look at past events where a **** load of people were rushed to hospital (and some died) due to drugs.

I can possibly see where you're coming from when it comes to commiting crimes that don't harm anyone else or only harm yourself - e.g. a 17-year-old lad having sex with his 16-year-old (and therefore, underage) girlfriend, drugs etc. But when you bring in what I've highlighted above, your argument loses all credibility.
Big stretch between going to a rave and murder....One is the most serious of crimes and the other is none of anyone elses business....
But murder would be ok if you didn't get caught? Or is murder something you'd take the moral high ground on, as opposed to rape and incest - because at least with them, nobody dies (unless of course the victim commits suicide as a result of the emotional and psychological trauma)...?

I'm sorry when did Centra start selling Cancer?

Smoking only increases your chances of cancer occurring. It does increase them hugely and can cause a host of other nasty diseases. But tobacco is a legal and regulated industry with in place manufacturing process's that guarantee the quality of the product to consumers. Tobacco also has no real effect on a persons cognition.

For cannabis and other drugs this is not true. They have a high and debilitating effect on the users cognition and exist on the black market with no set and tested manufacturing process. This increases an already foolish persons risk.
A 2002 report by the British Lung Foundation estimated that three to four cannabis cigarettes a day were associated with the same amount of damage to the lungs as 20 or more tobacco cigarettes a day.

@drunkmonkey: are you really a tool? or are just trying to annoy people?

freedom and choice is an illusion tbh

but i do agree that we need to have a set group of rules to live by, general society rules, if the majority agree then we should follow that rule

    thats the illusion of democracy

i've got a sneaking suspicion your the one who annoys people when you bust up there partys......I never had a pop at any garda in either thread, all I said was that the Garda aren't Chemical Brothers fans and don't like music over 120bpm, I was trying to add some light comedy before everyone and his uncle decided to jump on my back....

sorry but when did i say anything bout busting up parties. I've no problem with fast music or late night parties as long as they don't force me to listen to the music at the 4 in the morning.

You want no laws or rules. But then you don't. So really what you want is a place where you can do drugs, listen to fast music and act like a general asshole. Yes?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 24,056 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sully

But there is no freedom, and you agreed there is no freedom (well, you cant seem to make up your mind). Every argument put forward has failed. Your making a tool out of yourself, and you should give up.

Just to clarify, I gave the title what it is based on the OPs attitude I felt it fitted perfectly.

no just you. This attitude you have that you are some how above what is agreed conduct for society and it's ok as long as you get away with it. You really come across as a selfish asshole. Who's only expectation in life is to get out of his mind at raves and party all night. Great idea i'm sure a lot of people would love to be able to do that. But in what we call the real world (you do know where that is don't you?) only millionaires and other rich people can do that? (do you happen to be rich?)

You know what's wrong with a broken needle?

I split our conversation (from start to finish). The rest of the topic has little to do with your views, it just sheds light as to why you even started the conversation.

I don't need to set you up for a fall - you do that all by yourself just fine without me!

(Of course, Dungeons and Dragons probably gets the occasional dust-off too. Mind those 10-sided dice in your pocket protector!).
