Upcoming PC exclusive RTS/RPG hybrid made by Gas Powered Games makers of Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege due for release in Febuary 2009.

The game is described cross between Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander and inspired by Warcraft III and Dota.

Will use Stardocks Impulse service for digital distribution and mutiplayer and patching (no stand alone patches will be available).
Will also feature no copyright protection on it.

Just bringing this thread back from the dead.
I preordered Demigod the other day and got access to the beta.

Has anyone else been playing this. So far I've been playing against AI opponents and getting my arse kicked because I'm still trying to figure out how to play properly. I tried playing it like a standard rts and that didn't work then I tried assassin mode but I found it very difficult to make any progress in the battle as I could only control the hero unit and not get very far before dying.

I haven't tried playing a proper multi player yet.

I did it through Stardock's impulse app. If you haven't got it, download install it, set up an account. You can pay by paypal.

Yeah I reckon go for it. It is a little pricey at $44. I'm still trying to figure out how to play. From what I've seen, a single game lasts a couple of hours at least. And that was against AI opponents.

Its quite a nice simple game actually, I must have played it for 6 hours or so on Sunday. Currently only playing with the AI on Normal which is grand for getting to know how to play the game.

From what I can tell you can only control the Hero Unit and just use him to capture Flags and help the troops. So far the level cap is 25 but most of the time I only get up to around 14 so its important to choose the right Skills

If you play as a general you can command some other characters as well as the main unit.

They have a new build of the game due this week with some new game types and network fixes.

How do you play as a General, are they not the Hero Units?

I thought Generals\Assasins were just different types of Hero Unit..

Actually when I played last night I noticed one AI Guy had about 5 other minions following him around the place, which I didnt have when I played using the same hero unit the game before.

Yeah that's the general with the minions following him
I haven't played in a while. I think only certain characters are generals. There's one called Erebus can't remember the others. When you select your character, i think it gives you an assassin by default. You have to change it to a general character.
You then get extra command icons for spawning minions.

I have the the latest beta. There are still a few annoying bugs. Biggest one for me is that the game won't even start if you hav comodo firewall with defense + installed.

They're ok. I'm running it pretty much at it's highest level. They don't seem as good as the various screenshots floating about. It slows down in places. I thought it was my hardware but apparently they have been working on these issues.

Ok I took a few screenshots using Xfire. First time I've used it. It output the pictures as .png so I'm fairly sure they're not in the same resolution as I was playing (1680x1050). They also came out a little darker than the game looked.

Well I don't get much time to play these games so I'm not great at them. Therefore I found the A.I. enough. But from reading the forums it seems a lot of the people on there find the A.I. too easy even on the hardest mode.

Having said that, they are trying to sell this as a multiplayer game with a persistent world. That's the pantheon system where you are trying to 'ascend' your character.

Just an opinion but..

I want to point out that this game is kinda simple, pantheon or not.

Its a lot of fun for a while but its doesnt have any longevity in comparison with any other strategy games.. I'm trying to find something to compare it too but I can't.

I've purchased a copy but doubt I will be playing it again once it goes live

For $44 you can do better

This was released today on impulse. I'm not sure if it is available in EU stores just yet. I think it only came out officially in the US.

I downloaded the final version today. Had a quick look at the single player. Seems the same as the beta with a few bells and whistles.

I see it's out now. Anyone buy it? I've tempted, especially as it's cheaper from impluse than it is from play! Okay it's only 2 or 3 euro cheaper but it's the difference that counts.

System requirements say it needs 8gb, is that an 8gb download?

Ya i bought it via impulse , i would reccomend getting it this way as long as you have a good conecition its 2.5gb, and the impulse software is good and the transaction is simple.
As for the game id highly reccomend it iv been a pc gamer for years now and this game surprised me with how good it was, Easy to pick up and play hard to master, Good gameplay, Good graphics and its just somethin new i would defo reccomend .

I was playing the betas but I haven't had a chance to try the final release since I downloaded it on Monday. Have they sorted the muliplayer issues? Apparently there were issues with the servers over the last couple of days and it was very hard to join a game.

To be honest iv only got about 4 hours game time so far so im just doin a single player tournament to learn some basic game mechanics , but from the forums etc it does seem like there are some issues that will be solved, a lot of online games have some issues like this until patches so it wouldnt put me off. I will see if i can try a multiplayer game tommorow and report back.

As for the other question is it tactical , yes to a extent it is a game where there are 8 different demigods and you have your own tech tree plus a tech tree you and your allys can upgrade together . So there is a huge possibilty for different stratagies and tactics to be developed . Lets just say its a real action get in there type team game where the upgrades you purchase can really influence the battle . I would reccomend this to any rts fan put it this way i played for 2 hours today it felt like 10 mins !!!! need i say more

Yeah it's one of those games that is incredibly addictive and eats up time. When I first bought it and tried the beta it was about midnight when it downloaded. I decided to try it out for 10 minutes to see it running. Next thing I knew, it was about 3.30am and I had just finished. Usually don't do that these days.
It's also the reason why I haven't played the final release yet because I need to set aside some time for it.

Play as the Rook and win , simples as .

Its strange , you have no control over your base troops they just move forward , you can upgrade em etc , however that can be money you can spend getting your Demigod armor , it seems to be mostly about your Demigod , Again , the rook which is the big guy who is a walking castle is overpowered you can upgrade em with skills , etc, however it feels kind of simple ...... like an under average RPG , not tried multi player yet that might be good .

One thing it is not is the Groundbreaking genre changing RTS i was promised xDDDD

Still worth a poke however

Power up his hammer smash , Give him his 3 independent weps ( Archers Tower of Light and Treb ) , the one where he sucks health from building , and finaly the one that makes his attack crazy , Give him a couple speed items so he can catch up to other demigods, and let him run rampant



I do however also like lord Erebrus and Regulus they are also good , but in SINGLE PLAYER ( <---- so i suppose its not a fair choice ) he is crazy easy to play as

The game is all about using your character to push the tide of the battle in your team's direction.

I just use him to smash a path through the defenses so the smaller units can get to the citadel. If you use one of the assassin characters you can control their minions. I usually go with that option instead of rook.

Testing out this game atm and must say I'm very impressed. I've been reasonably disappointed with the support provided for SC/FA though so I will see where they go with updates or get a few friends on board before I commit to it. Very addictive game though.


Note to any developers; stop using f**king P2P matching for multiplayer games on PCs. It's not working.

Id say the support will be good they released a video today which showed us round the studio and they addressed the multiplayer issues etc, so they said they hope patch is out friday and they are workin hard at it. To be honest if they want impulse to be a good rival to steam they have no choice but to support it . Oh whats SC/FA?

Oh also i can see the rook getting balenced out more !!!!!!!

I've just been reading an interesting thread on the Demigod forums. It seems all the people who "tried out" pirated copies of the game totally screwed over the legit users of the game. The reason for this is that all impulse games do a small check to the stardock servers to see if they are legit copies and if they can get the free patches. Even though this check only lasts a few seconds, having about 120,000 pirated copies hammering the stardock servers caused them to have problems and affected the multiplayer games.

They had to move all the legal users over to a new server to get around the issue. The problem wasn't helped by the fact that Gamestop broke the street date and released it over the weekend giving them a 4 day head start with this.

Im not too woried about this pirated thing to be honest the longevity of the game will be with its multiplayer and updated content so as long as they ensure that its legit users playing online and getting most of the benefits im happy.
I will be the first to admit i have got a few pirated pc games to check them out but if i liked them i would always purchase a copy.
I believe in supporting new games pushing boundaries and genres cause other wise we are all just goin to be playing call of duty 10, and Medal of honour 8 in a few years , with very little creativity goin into the games.

Oh ya anybody develop any good anti Rook statagies im playing hard against comp and hes tough !!!

Support the Developers that deserve it thats my message.
