    Icom R5 maybe better.

    Yaesu VR500 better still.


    The problem that makes the Alinco and Icom stupid is there is no keypad to recall a memory or enter a frequency. Makes them limited to a small number of fixed channels.

    I think even some of the Bearcat/Uniden are better.

    Alinco is really getting left behind and bit expensive generally for what you get.

    I'm of course biased as I have a Bearcat UK80ch Uniden scanner, Sony ICF2001D and a Yaesu VR500.
