    Hi Folks,

I'm looking to put a home gym in my house.
I was looking at http://www.irish-lifting.com/ but I'm not sure what to get.

Was thinking an Olympic set and a good bench for starters.
Are those multigyms any good or is there anything else that you'd advise?
My current gym workout is =>
    Chest, Shoulders, Biceps on Mon,
    Back, Triceps on Wed
    Legs & Abs on Fri

I'm also looking for a good exercise bike...

    Thanks in Advance,

I would get an Olympic set, a bench and a power rack like this this http://irish-lifting.com/product_info_equipment.php?cPath=1_11&products_id=197.

If you got a cable crossover you can do many exercises and then dumbells and a bench, your pretty much able to do lots with that...

A cable crossover (as in a double sided hi low pulley) is really over kill for a small home gym, one side of it is usually more than enough. Attached to a power rack along with a bench means you can pretty do much anything, all the versatility of the power rack and also lat pulldown, tricep pushdowns and facepulls ect from the high pulley and lowrowing, standing cable curls and cable delt raises ect from the low pulley.
I have hi/lo pulley attachments for all the racks for 250 which aren't on the site yet as I have no decent pictures but they are available or this unit has it built in with an open (half) rack

Sorry for butting in but is that add-on pulley for the rack plate loaded mickk? I looked at your site after thinking about a rack, didn't realise you had a pulley for the full racks, very tempting!

Agree. Dont mind the cable cross over stuff! Get yourself a power rack with pull up and chin attachments, a retractable bench, an olympic bar, plates and some dumbbells and that is all you will ever need!

Yea its plate loaded, I am in the (long and laborious) proceess of putting every machine I sell together and getting decent res pictures for a printed catalogue so I will try and get the racks done soon...
The vj's rack and hi/lo pulley is 900 so 600 is a really good price...

The powertech looks the business but its all machine driven paths of movement, you might be the person who fits every station but your odds aren't great. Freeweights are infinitely better (cable attachments could as they are free to move any direction), even Hanley would agree with that...

    Why?

The cable crossover can be used for hundreds of exercises, and many of them are very advanced! if money is not an issue i'd definetly get 1.

Fair enough. they probably can be of benefit but are not essential. Money is always an issue. A power rack, bench, dumbbells, olympic bar and plates would all most people could ever posibly need.

a lot better than some strange looking yellow machine no doubt!

LOL at the powertec. If you had loads of money and space and knew nothing bout exercise fundamentals, that would be cool cos it's yellow and shiny!

Everyone seems to be pimping Mick and irishlifting.com and I hate to be another but I spent €1100 kitting out our gym from Mick and in a small space about the size of a bedroom we literally have kit for any exercise I can concieve of. And I can concieve of a lot.

If I were you, I'd get the power rack, the 140kg O set, and the flat/incline bench. The rack has a pull up bar. All you're missing is dips and you could get a set of rings for €50 online that would take care of that or just use a chair. That would all cost you about €700 and you'd have a top gym that probably takes up half the space of the Powertec yoke.

Thanks for the advice folks...really appreciate it

I'm tempted to go with the olympic set, bench and angled open rack.
I take it this would have everything I need if I add dumbells etc.

    Mick any boards.ie discounts? :D
