Hey guys .. Westpoint in Dublin.

Anyone use the fitness guys there? The ones that walk around. Do they just help you out with using the machines or do they sort out a fitness programme for you?

Is it a better idea to hire a personal trainer to meetup with every couple of weeks to go through progress and adjust the fitness plan?

    Thanks

Ask for Robert Flanagan or Darren Fagan. Both know their stuff. Neither is a PT yet but both are training and seriously dedicated. I think Robbie is a little further down the line to his cert but I'm not quite sure.

I have to ask you - what's your connection to them? Do you know them or have you been a client of theres? Are these the guys who just go round in the standard Westpoint t-shirts telling you how to use machines? Or do they do a sitdown and discuss it all with you etc ?

I dont use westpoint, I use the Coolmine Sports centre gym near it but they dont have instructers there I trust. I know both through a friend of a friend and have discussed fitness and training at length with Darren in particular. I have never been a client of theirs per say but I have taken advice on training methods when I felt my workouts were getting stagnant. I dont know what type of shirts/tops they wear in work but they are on the gym floor as far as I know. I dont believe they charge for their instruction, its part of their contract with Westpoint to give it. As far I know they will sit down with you and discuss what plans/worries/goals you have and set you a good program, theyre both really enthusiastic guys and would gladly help you out.

Yeah it’s a decent place to train.

From what I have seen although I dont know the guys by names, theres about 3 instructors who train regularly in the red shirts, a bald guy, a guy with spiky hair and a dark haired fella (as I say I don’t know there names). Although I haven't asked for there advice they seem to be very competent with instruction that I've seen them give to others. I don’t know why I don’t as they’d probably give good advise as I want to change my training routines a bit, suppose I'm a bit stubborn and that you never like asking fella's off around the same age for advice!

One thing I will say is that they got a handy number!!

yo man, i just started a thread about the personal trainers in westpoint, i was trying to find out how long people generally stick with a personal trainer before they go it alone. i started with your man rob that the other fella on this thread mention, he must have posted it a while ago because he's a full personal trainer now. he's good, have had him since Feb this year, twice a week usually. - so did you get a personal trainer yet? if so what was your experience?
