The GAA lads have been having regular meet ups, the soccer lads regular bust ups, how about we show 'em all how it's done and have a rugby forum meet up?

    Would anyone be interested?

Dublin, or Cork might be most practical (I know some of you would rather Oz, or the UK, but let's be realistic)

If there's enough interest we can sort something out I'm sure.

Would you be interested in attending a rugby forum meet up? 31 votes

I'd imagine there would be more interest when the new season starts up.

I'd certainly be interested if it was in Dublin. I live in Belfast so would be a bit too much effort to travel further afield.

The first interpro of the Season is Leinster v Munster, which also happens to be the 2 biggest supported teams on this forum. Maybe it would be good to have the beers around that night before / after the game as a lot of people will be around and I'm sure the lads from down south might be making a trip up to Dublin that weekend anyway, probably the most practical way of accomodating everybody.

If it was in Horse Show house or Paddy Cullens, I'm sure half of us would be in there anyway...game isn't until 26th September though...so maybe would be better for a follow up beers or something...

If the event happened to fall on the only 2 weeks I will be home this year then Id love to go.
Around Sept, I could wow everyone with travvellers stories of oval ball from the other side of the world...........

DId you know they dont have scrums here, no line outs either and they are missing 4 men from the field of play !!

    Oh yeah thats league!! :)

And then there is that other game ... dont get me started.

Tag Rugby and beers ain't a bad idea at all, however, the fat boys amongst us might just have the beers and watch the tag, if that's okay.

    Vaggabond?

Tag rugby or else going to the Leinster Munster match is a great idea!

I'm not quite sure tag would work out too well, we'd all need tag shorts/tags etc. What if people get hurt (lets face it, it happens) There are at least 2 girls signed up for this too, so how would we fit in, we know how competitive you boys get when you're proving your manliness to each other, I'd rather not get smashed like I did a few times this tag season by "over eager" lads.

Going to the game or meeting before/after (both!) sounds like it could be a plan.

We could meet nearer the city centre too, as it's impossible to get in and find people in the pubs around the RDS on match day. So I can't imagine how hard it will be to find people you don't know :)

Yeah that would probably work best, so thats the 2nd week in September then

If it's the interpro (Leinster V Munster) it's the last weekend in September, more than likely the Saturday 27th September.

If it's the first home game for Leinster (presuming we're having it in Dublin?) vs Edinburgh, it's the second weekend in September. My guess would be the Friday 12th September.

Personally, for what it's worth, I reckon we're better off waiting until the Munster game to give the lads in Red extra incentive to come (like they need it!! :p). But possibly a mini meet up for the Edinburgh game could be kind of cool I suppose if ye like, just throwing it out there. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

    Nay
Yeah, well the Leinster V Munster game is the obvious choice to get maximum attendance I reckon. But provided it wouldn't affect that attendance a mini beers could work if people wanted to arrange something.

There are probably more Connacht supporters up in Dublin than there are in Connacht.

Coola boola, seems like we've a nice little posse interested.

Do people want to suggest venues, either Dublin city centre, or near to the RDS without being completely jammers on match day?

We can have a recon mission for the first home game and suss out options before the Leinster Munster game if ye like :)

Yeah, thats a nice little spot, and close enough to the RDS.

So we're set on the Leinster v Munster game or some other date?

According to the internet, the Leinster V Munster game will take place on Sunday 28th of September at 7pm. Is Sunday a practical day for a beers like this, or would people prefer to do it on a Saturday/Friday (even the 27th) instead. I'm happy with any evening, but thinking of those who might be travelling up from Munster etc. it might not suit.

Due to lost ATM card incident I haven't managed to get tickets for any of the upcoming games. May not make the recon mission (any excuse eh?) but will definitely be at the main ones, even if it is just as seat minder while you guys are at the game :)
