No Electricity: What Can You Actually Do?

Right I woke up there at about nine minutes past one and there was no electricty.

    Grand right?
    NO! NOT AT ALL!

You can't do anything without it, it's ridiculous, I tried playing guitar. I played for two minutes but I was too **** to be bothered with it!
So I decided to make some food... ya need ****ing electricity to cook these days apparently! So I had a pint of milk.
Then I tried to lift weights, but ya can't do that without some decent loud music. NO MUSIC bar what was coming from my phone.

The electricity came back at 11 minutes to two!

I would not be able to enjoy life without electricity... it would suck more than Christmas when you're older then 15.

What would you do if you were stuck at home with NO electricity?!

Buy a laptop, a mobile broadband modem, and always keep a spare battery charged.

On a day like today I'd drag the couch outside and start drinking.

Is there any other way? Keep the rest in the freezer until you want them. That should still be cold.

Read a book? Go on a jog? Eat a sandwich?

Infact you could've eaten everything in the Fridge as you'd never know when the electricity would be back on and you don't want that beer/food to go to waste, so pig out next time.

Drink all the beer before it goes warm and cook all the meat before it goes off...

Just don't use a disposable BBQ indoors.....

    Yore Ma!

You know I was going to start reading The Wheel of Time but the net came back.

And I was going to raid the fridge as well, but it was all uncooked mince and chicken. No ice cream or anything good, but I did havve a nice glass of milk!

    get drunk

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

Tidy up, read a book, get drunk, write a list of things you like about yourself, masturbate... in that order.
It's worse in the winter though, get a power outage at 7pm and you've got the whole night to sit in darkness. Reading by candle light sucks, but it does feel very retro.

actually remember a christmas (27th Dec or there abouts) a few years ago.. where the fuse box blew, and there was no way to get if fixed till after the christmas week. Seem to remember, going to the pub, drinking till late, then coming home and sleeping it off till as late as possible and then going back to the pub.

didnt work out too bad.. ,

But it does suck to high hell having no leckie..

Nintendo DS or masturbate. Both are good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭il gatto

Get a windmill? The chances of it being shagged and the electricity supply going at the same time are slim to nil.
Otherwise, have a camping gas and tinned food handy.
    Then maturbate:pac:

Then the ds runs out of battery. Palmela never gets tired.

If only you could get some sort of dynamo effect from masturbation... that'd solve everything!

    **** to the moon!

Can't find the site now, but I remember reading a few years back an article by this guy where he strapped a pedometer (or something similar) around his wrist, jacked off loads and somehow worked out how many chickens you'd need to choke to get to the moon...

If you never had electricity you probably wouldn't be **** at guitar

me and my mates were watchin that viral ad for the blendtech blender and it showed glowsticks getting blended and glowing like a bulb in the blender when he was finished. My mate commented on how handy that would be if the electricity went so you could use it as a bulb. To which my mate noted that without power the blender wouldn't work

Just get your friend to grind the glowstick with him teeth and make him into a walking light.

Just thought of something... When the power goes, start a fire and you can cook the meat and chicken in the fridge on a spit. Perfect!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,179 ✭✭✭FunkZ

Right, a cycle, today has been boring enough even with electricity!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

If it goes in the day, read a book.

If it goes in the night, head to bed.

Few years ago now we had a power cut that lasted all over Christmas. No turkey, no chilled wines, no lights, no TV -- a return to less technological days. We lit the open fire in the dining room and roasted spuds on it, then topped them with cheese and ate them for Christmas dinner by candle light with a bottle of good irish whiskey to wash 'em down with. It turned out to be one of the best Christmasses we had ever had as a family. So bullocks to the ESB. We can survive:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,179 ✭✭✭FunkZ

Thanks TeleTextPair, I'm gonna actually plan on making a fort! :P

I suspect it's all a conspiracy between the power companies and the major candle corporations.
    I'll be watching.

I feel like this thread has jinxed me now. My MSN isn't working. That's the best thing electricity gives me :(
