I'm glad I didn't stay up until 4am watching this. The only thing that sounds remotely good was Jericho's shot at Michaels.

Punks title run is shaping up to be more humiliating (for the wrestler) than Mysterio's:pac:.........

It was a decent show, Jericho promo was fantastic but it was in front of a quiet crowd.

    Youve got to be joking.

Since winning the title, he has had matches with Snitsky, Kane and two against Batista. He only went cleanly over Snitsky and was saved from being decimated by Kane (by Batista) and his title reign was prolonged by a run-in (from Kane) at the GAB. Someone even told me he was tossed out of the ring last night so the "real stars", Cena and Batista, could duke it out. Now that is humilating for a WHC. At least Mysterio won the thing cleanly!:p

    Still not comparable.

CM Punk and Rey Mysterio are completely different in terms of what point in their career they won the title in terms of popularity and credibility. Punk had two 50:50 matches with an established star in Batista and got the last word in with JBL. There is definite logic in how they are booking him, if they booked him to squash everyone it would be as half effective to establish him and would lead to a backlash from fans. CM Punk has been much better booked than Mysterio during his reign even though Punk isnt half the star is Rey was during his.

Yeah but the whole angle here is that Punk wants to prove himself but because of the chaos on RAW at the moment without someone in charge 3rd partys keep interjecting themsleves and ruining it for him. Now I havent seen this weeks RAW yet but from the report I read Punk got a ton of offence against Batista and looked strong. I will hold judgment until I see the match but I actually like what they are doing.

Can see an elimination chamber at Sumerslam with Punk, JBL, Batista, Cena, Jericho and Kane for the title. Set up by a returning William Regal (Shane and Steph will be forced to bring him back) with Punk going over.

Don't get me wrong I don't want him to have an "invincible reign" like Cena did. It's the little things. Like how he was beaten and was about to be powerbombed by Batista at GAB before the run in by Kane.

Or, as I mentioned earlier, how he was flung out of the ring last night so Batista and Cena could duke it out.

I'm all for balance but so far his reign has been less than flattering.

He is a comparably less established star having a 50:50 match with an estbalished star, he is being elevated. You should reserve judgement until you see where the storyline is going in relation to the run in.

They are elevating him properly and in a character specfic manner. He is the underdog, unproven Champion just listen to his promos.

Have actually never listened to it. Just looked to me like thats where they are leading.

6 people in and around the title
Chaos which needs to be contained
A champion who needs to prove himself

It just makes sense. Ive been watching this sh!t far too long.:)

RAW wasn't too bad last night. Beth was featured twice! :D

Punk completely controlled the Batista match and this would have made him look strong had Kane not chokeslammed Batista before the match and the commentators kept going on about it.

It's not been as badly booked as Reys run, but he could be made look a little better.

He needs to look strong at the end of RAW for the next two weeks at least.

Jerichos promo was brilliant. Pity the crowd were so quiet.

Kelly Kelly was actually quite impressive last night.

From reading that review the most important thing by a mile is that D-Lo came back. That'd be more likely to make me watch than anything

Hopefully we see him in a push towards the Inter, Him and Kofi could be some interesting rasslin!

He got a great pop from the crowd too!

Thankfully they kept his old music.

I'd say they will change that pretty soon, either totally new, or update it.

I HOPE THEY REFORM THE NATION OF DOMINATION

The thing with Punk is the same thing with when he won the MITB. Some people were expecting him to suddenly have the ability to beat everyone just because he climbed a ladder before some others. So why should he suddenly have the ability to beat Batista and JBL clean when all he's done is cash in the MITB? As rovert said, I think if they just started pushing him as a top guy like that then it would lead to a backlash. He is being made look stronger than he had been though

It wasn't the worst Raw ever. Jericho was the highlight. I liked the 6-man tag as well, it was nicely done. Good to see D'Lo too

I don't see an elimination chamber on the horizon. I thought they'd keep that for No Way Out considering how well it did this year. I thought before Raw that they'd go for Punk vs Batista vs Kane

    Its a 5 man thing,
    Punk,
    Batista,
    JBL,
    Cena,
    Kane.

I have feelings it will be something different like the Armageddon cell match.
They havent done a multi-opponent cell math since 2000, and the greatest thing was that they were all mega stars, and the angle seems to have the same smell as it did then.

A little bit of nostalgia isn't a bad thing. Are you saying you didn't enjoy the return on D-LO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I enjoyed Raw this week although I was pissed off at ANOTHER poor DQ finish.

I liked the six-man tag match. Crowd was into it and I liked the finish too.

Nice to see D-Lo Brown back but it seemed to me only about 30% of the crowd knew who he was (or were willing to react to him). I suppose that shows how fast the wrestling biz moves on. I found the Beth/Santino thing hilarious. I'm interested to see where they go with it.

No idea where they are planning on going with their main event feuds. I just hope they protect their babyfaces better on future PPVs.

I hope what they do with Punk is keep giving him bull**** finishes for another few weeks, then have him beat Batista clean and turn heel, doing the whole "you doubted me but I'm the best" thing, you know yourself. I enjoyed Raw this week.

It might be a case of the whole Eddie/Mamacita thing tho..

Apparently this is what happened after Raw went off air-
"Cena and Batista stare each other down, and Batista leaves. Cena gets on the mic and says that this is the part where he should apologize for hitting Batista, but he's not going to because if it's the "Punch heard 'round the world" that's going to set up a match between him and Batista for the first time ever, then he's never going to apologize."

So there we have it, Cena/Batista in some way at summerslam

    If there's a chamber, i'd say..

    CM Punk
    Batista
    Kane
    JBL
    Cena
    Jericho

I'd imagine its very, very hectic to write a storyline that involves six people intertwining with each other for one big event.

either way, I'd pay to see that chamber match (if it happened) and i must say, it does look quite likely :)

Seen as Jericho ran into Kane on RAW, i believe he may somehow get involved.
