Hi All, looking for a positive ID on this bird if possible. Seen among the heather on Camaderry mountain near Glendalough. This was a solitary bird.

    Golden Plover

These birds took flight over the sea/sand at Rogerstown- think the only way to view the spectacle is in full size- and then scrolling across.

    Are they ringed plovers?

Savage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give details to Golden Eagle trust.

Have sent on the details to them. It's the second time I've seen one there, in virtually the same spot as well.

For anyone interested, I also spotted about 15 Grey Partridge in an open field (in fading light) when I was leaving, as well as a few Hen Harriers, Buzzards, Kestrels, Golden Plover, Curlew & Whooper Swans.

For anyone that has seen and counted Golden Plover over the weekend, or in the next day or two - give Birdwatch Ireland a shout, or record them on Birdtrack - there was an International Golden Plover Survey over the weekend! Even if you can roughly estimate the flock size it'll probably be useful.

They are indeed.. Fascinating the way they seem to fly in unison, nearly all wings on the same flight stroke...
