I joined the new kingfisher gym in waterford ,its a nice gym and it cost 650 for the year but the one complaint I have is that they dont have a water fountain in the gym plus they said the water in the dressing room is unsuitable for drinking but they do sell water for 2 euro a bottle behind the counter.I find this very cheeky especially since I forked out 650 for the year.I would go through 3 of those bottles during a workout,do they expect me to pay 6 euro everytime.I mean every run of the mill gym has a water fountain, am I being unreasonable?

Not being unresasonable at all. I always check this before i sign up for a gym though.

Pressure them and tell them you would like to see one installed. If they don't then you can leave after your year and let them know why.

ps. you can always bring your own, no need to pay. It is a pain I find.

Why don't you fill up a bottle at home and bring it with you??

I hate drinking from public water fountains anyway, I only do it when I'm really desperate, so it wouldn't really bother me!

Did you check it out before you joined? When you asked, were you told that there was a water fountain to drink out of?? If you didn't then you don't have a leg to stand on. "Caveat Emptor" and all that.

FTR, no I don't think it is fair. It's BS. Can you bring water with you?

Yeh its an old trick, and a lousy one at that. You could bring your own?? Not ideal I know but having to pay €2 is nonsense,

It is a money making racket. Same thing in my old gym.

same thing in mine too, the fountain we do have never works. I'd rather lick the changing room bench than pay 2 euro for a bottle of funny tasting water.

How is the water in the changing room unsuitable for drinking? Do they get a specially contaminated supply brought in just for those taps? If it's connected to the mains water supply then it's OK to drink, unless your in Galway I guess.

It's not great, particularly with a new gym trying to attract new customers.
I would be very cheeky, and bring a two litre bottle of water (LIDL?), and refill your drinking bottle as needed. Maybe if enough people in in their two litre bottles, the gym will get the hint eventually.

I think the solution to your problem is pretty obvious, but I agree for that money you should expect a water fountain.

By the way, Juan aka Timetogetfit aka Dumplin, just so you know, people will spot your posts a mile away, whatever alias you choose to use :D

Galway water - may be safe but tastes rotten now. Even in tea it is shocking.

It's a very very long story. I'll probably get a ban if I go into here. Let's leave it at -he's a 'character' that keeps popping up on the fitness and other forums in different guises causing much hilarity.
