Barbells: Starting Strength

    Hey all,

I am going to start some proper weight training, or at least some basic weight training and have been told starting strength is a good place to start.

I've been doing a lot of cardio recently and some "mickey-mouse weights", I'm going to do the workouts at home given I dont really have the disposable at the moment for the gym.

Anyway, anyone have any specific or general tips for me?

What barbell should I buy, Im thinking of doing an argos job on it, one of the York ones. Should I get cast iron/chrome or Vinyl or is the differene negligible?

    Thanks for advice people.

I think you would be much better off going for an olympic barbell than anything else.
If you stick to SS, it won't be too long before you would out grow the smaller sets.
