You could always bring a flask of coffee with you when you go out.

It's practical and you'll look cool dancing around with it!*

*you may not necissarily look cool dancing around with it.

Hmmm, would McDonalds do one? Or some Centra/Spars etc have coffee machines that do a passable coffee.

Coffee is awful stuff... 24 hour shop, buy a jar, make it yourself??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,365 ✭✭✭spoonbadger

    Coffee is not awful stuff!.

I was up in dublin 2 weeks ago, going to a concert (not the cool kind, the artsy pretentious kind ;)).

Was completely knackered and couldnt find any coffee place open after 7. Shame on dublin city centre :)

At the time it was national concert hall. So more or less near grafton street.

I'm sure there has to be some good quality coffee-shops around there *somewhere* that stay open a little later, but i couldnt find anything :(

Sorry to disappoint but I just drink plain black coffee, don't really care about the taste, just want the drug!

Well, Danzig isn't in the band anymore but yeah, The Misfits. It's a black mug with the fiend skull and the logo on it.

Most of the coffee places including the insomina chain ( oh the irony) close at 7 and cafe moka closes at 10. Yes usually in and around the city centre, hotels stop serving coffee in
the lobby/bar at 11pm, gods be with the days were bewleys on grafton street were open until 3am and you could get coffee and a sticky bun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,772 ✭✭✭✭Whispered

McDonalds coffee, black is perfect. :)

Costa in the airport is open till around 2am. Starbucks is open fairly late there too. I was out in my car early in the week and really fancied a nice coffee on my way home so chanced my arm in there

Its open as d4 hotels now, dunno if the coffee dock is still there though. Used to work right across the road from it and twas a godsend to nip in after a nights heavy boozing for the steak sandwiches at all hours usually with half of us passed out in the booth before the food even arrived.

This makes me sad :(. Buns and coffee at 3am would be great!.

If I badly need coffee at that hour of the morning I'm more likely to sink a can of Red Bull rather than coffee. It's the caffeine I'd care about more than the taste.

Anyone mention Jury's Coffee Dock yet? Jury's Hotel, Ballsbridge (open 23 hours - closed 3am to 4am)

For last night coffee you can get better then BlackCat Coffee Absinthe over ice.

Death in the Afternoon was Hemmingway’s famous Absinthe cocktail. Black Cat Coffe can be considered the new Death in the Morning. Wormwood is blended with an awakening coffee flavor to create a very special liquor. Forget Cafe Lattes drink Black Cat!

    * 30% alcohol
    * 0.7 liter / 23.65 fl.oz

Used to be a major Red Bull junky. Started when I was working 9 to 5 in the summer of first year college and balancing a social life and WoW addiction. Took me a while to kick it actually.

That was a fun summer of 4 hours sleep a night. :pac:

I tend not to need 'em to stay up late anymore thankfully. :p

Zaytoons on Camden street is open'til 3ish I think - you could get a steak kebab or something? The Good World Chinese on Georges Street is open late too, about 2am I think. I think the The Montague just off Camden street serves well into the early hours aswell.

Seriously wish you could get a meat and two veg style dinner at all hours! It'd be a Godsend.

Is the Manhattan near the top of Harcourt street not doing all night breakfasts anymore?

Mind you that would be nearly ten years ago now.

McDonalds form O'Connell St or Grafton St in their little McCafes, where you can get McLatte for a McCheap McPrice that keeps you McAlert when doing McAssignments...or after a McNight out ;)

    Mc:pac:

    :D

I feel your pain Miss Thaed, here:

    attachment.php?attachmentid=75692&stc=1&d=1238006278

The right person to ask would be a homeless person to be honest.

Or you could just go home and have some coffee there, or carry a thermos.

TECHNICALLY, semi-decent coffee is a Secondary Objective here. The Primary Objective is Caffeine.

Which reminds me you might be able to grab some caffeine pills in Tesco. Also come to think of it, petrol stations. You'd have to buy it through the glass but you might be able to get the cashier to make it for you if you have enough charm.

However, Thaed may have just identified a niche in the downtown Dublin market for midnight food. You could probably make good business that way.

Nah, you have to deal with the drunk market - a problem.

I was trying to remember the name of that 24 hour coffee shop off grafton st that I used to go to and I think it was called Cafe Mocha or Moka or something....... The last time I was there was about 9 years ago so I have no doubt it's well closed down by now.

The problem with fast food places is that they are designed to get people out as soon as possible - bright colours, lights, plastic chairs etc. I wish there was a less jarring and uncomfortable late-night environment where you could sit back and relax over a coffee and have a chat......

I just went driving around North Charleston and couldnt find so much as a milkshake after 12am. Very disappointing.
