This just arrived in my mail...

This could be someone playing silly buggers or then again it could be that there is some "sharing" of email addresses going on behind the scenes. Anyone care to comment??

In 2005 we had a list of Boyles players from our club in Carlow and the Tour and these were only added today to the data base as we only found the file . At no stage did Boyles give us any emails addresses that we did not sign up . This was just the list from few years back which o saved as boyles2005 .

Tom thats the affiliate accounts when we were with Boyles is all .We recieved mail addresses for our accounts signed up as we signed them. it was a section in or php which send out the mails it has Irish members in that section from accounts when we we with them is all its only been added today to the newsletter section is all .

We still have all the emails from 2005/2006 . At no Stage has Boyles ever given us emails from any other accounts .

    Does that clear it up?

We also have a data base from Carlow Club / Waterford Club / Clonmel Club we also had joint mailing lists with our online companies that we have worked with .

    This is quite simply rubbish.

I was signing players up to Bodog in this period, and those players were accredited to me and my affiliate, not you, unless it went, player -> me -> my affiliate -> you -> bodog.

Are you saying any Irish player who signed up to Blonde Poker, even if they'd never even heard of BSP was accredited to you? That's a pretty savage affiliate deal you got there...

Or is it basically the case that Blonde, Bodog and Boyles gave you lists of Irish e-mail addresses because you were an affiliate of theirs?

I don't understand why this is all such a big deal:confused:

Isn't this why we have spam filters and the likes on our email accounts?
Unless they got your real name as well.

I'm behind the redevelopment of the BigSlickEvents website (God knows it's long overdue).

A mailing list system was just one of the features that I have built in. Neill has collected a vast amount of email addresses through the affiliation between BigSlickEvents and numerous poker sites, where sharing email addresses with reputable companies is common practice and is outlined in the privacy policies of all sites.

For some, the connection between themselves and BigSlick may be blurred which is why the initial email sent out asked to confirm participation in further emails. This is because they don't want to be perceived as spamming users. Recipients of the email must confirm their interest to receive further emails, if they ignore the email, they will receive no further communication from BigSlick.

To clarify, Neill only has email addresses of players who have signed up to poker sites through BigSlickEvents.

I thought it was a fair enough question and I like to keep things like this in the public because it stops people spinning me yarns.

For my part I am ok being put on the list from playing in Waterford (just about), and appreciate the warning message with the option to unsubscribe. I still think its a fair question.

Hmmmm, I stopped posting in this topic because I didn't think I got an e-mail, but I just noticed that I actually got an e-mail in my junk folder.

Now I have never played a BSP event, never given my email address to BSP, I do not have a Blonde Poker account, my Bodog account is linked to my affiliate for RB, and I didn't open a Boyle's account until a month or so ago when I played in the Freeroll put on for people who gave them feedback on issues they had, and I signed up to that directly.

Soooo, from my reckoning the only way you could have got my e-mail address was through Boyles giving you my address, I'm going to PM Boyle's to ask who my account is tagged to and if in fact I am tagged as BigSlick I assume I'll get a similar e-mail detailing my RB deal...

Dont think u are tagged to us on Boyles after that i dont know Ste ... Our affiliate deal is finished that finished 2 years ago with them. Boyles only gave us email addresses from accounts we signed up 2 years ago thats all.

I cant answer what i dont know . If some email addresses came through affiliates maybe thats it . i mean we have over 6500 addresses i cannot say where each individual address came from over 5 years .

Also we had a forum 2 years ago with 800 members they were added

I've never played a BSP event, never had a Bodog/ blondepoker account and only very recently signed up to Boyle directly through its website, yet I've got "Big Slick Poker July Newsletter" in my spam box today. Suppose Boyle must be the culprit.
