I'll soon be having a fta system installed,
    I have a 78Cm triax, Quattro LNB, 9x16 Multiswitch

I will be using 28.2e and either 13e or 19e

However having had a look at Lyngsat, i dont see much english language stuff on either of these positions :(

I can only presume that some of the non english language channels show english language tv / movies

(I am not interested in getting sports channels)

Can someone tell me what the attraction of 13 and 19 is ?, as i am now thinking of just having 28.2 and nothing else.

    Differnt things for Different people.

    Reasons:
    Because it's there.
    "Adult" Content
    Sport
    Non-English language
English news/documetary/info from non Irish/UK/US viewpoint (many channels have some English)
    BBC World TV
Channel flicking across 5000+ FTA TV & Radio...
    Italian Quiz Shows

    (Joking about the last one).

Either has lots of Music TV.

But I have my cake and eat it as I fitted a 16 x 16 switch.

Out of the two, I'd personally pick Astra 1 (19E)

I find the multitude of free German channels easier to bear than some of the stuff on Hotbird.

Main English-language channels on both are either news or Bible-bashing channels, and most of these are already on 28E, so it would seem the last sentence on your first post would probably sum it up for you.

Most channels that might have English-language films, will have them dubbed. The only consistent exception I have seen are the Slovene channels on 13E (particularly SLO-2 - films usually subtitled, original audio intact). CNBC on 19E show the Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien shows. As far as music video channels go, 19E may have an edge, though presentation will be (usually) in German.

If you could lean into a foreign language, then for German undoubtedly it would be 19E, and to a lesser extent, French. For either French or Italian, 13E.

But if none of the above grabs you, then stick with what your thinking and just watch 28E.

There is another option, but you'd need to re-think your setup if you wanted to go for it. See here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055037041

Arte HD on 19.2 is quite good, German and French audio available. Great documentaries.

More channels on 13E - you will need to know 53 different languages thou.

If it's porn your after get yourself to 30 west - heard it mentioned in the pub the other night, have no idea what it means. ;)

    Yes. 11361H/22000.

Technically it's the German service of Arte and follows their schedule, but quite a number of their programs have dual French/German soundtracks. Maybe just the links in German.
