    Hi all,

Just a suggestion since one was done last year, none yet this year unless I missed it. Reading from the old threads, the previous one was a very fun and successful trip. So if anyone interested, please pick a few dates for consideration and we start from there.

    Cheers,
    Mart

p/s : I will post later the links to the old threads.

I'd be interested in popping along to this one too. At this rate we might get a group discount

    suggestions are welcome!

That's the bank holiday weekend - the place might be a bit crazy then? How about the 9th?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 762 ✭✭✭Buzz Lightyear

I'd love to tag along if yiz dono mind. Sat 9th sounds good or the following weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

I should be able to head along then. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭Kazujo

I organised the group zoo trip last year. A great success. I'll send you the contact details for the zoo, to get a group rate.

Anyway, once a date is picked, I'll certainly make an effort to attend. The zoo is great for photos.

I may be interested all depending on what part of the country I end up in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 817 ✭✭✭YogiBear

I can't plan that far ahead :o but if I can make whichever day ye decide, I'd love to go.. I've been in Dublin over 2 years now and still haven't made a trip up to the zoo!

so do we have a date - 9th or 10th for everyone except Kajuzo?

    Provisional list:
    Paulo_Nuno
    eoghan_dubhdara
    Balfey1972
    Thoie
    Fajitas!
    kensutz
    YogiBear
    mart_max

I might have one or two friends with me, so that's about 9-10 persons if we are all in. Surely, we can get group rate.

Other option is to push to the weekend after for Kajuzo. i don't mind but we've to pick a date that suits the majority. well, the merrier the better, hope so! :D

    i.wouldn't.mind.an.early.start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

9th sounds good for me, but 10th is doable. By an early start you mean "after 11am", yes? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 762 ✭✭✭Buzz Lightyear

9th is great. Early 11.00 . Don't get me wrong I love my lie in, esp on a saturay, whilst the kids look at tv till 10.30, but early aint 11.00. The place'll jammers as it's one of the last few weekends before the schools start back.
Early would want to be 9.30 - 10.00 to have some peace and a coffee and get some sice shots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

I guess I'll just have to not be so lazy then. 9:30am meetup then? On a day to be decided. Whereabouts do ye meet up? I presume I should just look for a bunch of people with cameras? Could someone make a poll to pick a date?

put me down as a provisional please. Probably can't be helped but a weekend date is probably gonna mean it's hard for everyone to get shots as there will be LOADS of visitors over the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭MartMax

Now, Saturday it opens 9.30 and Sunday at 10.30. Buzz_Lightyear is right, the earlier lesser crowd. So guys pick 9th or 10th and we'll make it the first hour in. Coffee and nice photos then! I'd say 9th but no problem if it is 10th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

I might tag along to this. Is it definitely the 9th?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭MartMax

will a bunch of people with big cameras and lenses scare away other visitors? LoL!

If it's early on the 9th I'll tag along.

Hopefully they'll let me in... me and a zoo have eh... history...

Naw, its when you see the chimps and lions with binoculars and 600mm lens that you want to be worried. :D

Alrite lads, can those who are able to confirm their attendance this weekend send me a PM. I assume Satuday 9th is the day. The zoo is open at 9.30am so we could meet outside or somewhere earlier.

If I have at least 10 names, we could get a group discount. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

I might head on up to this, but it'll be a 7 o Clock start for me... :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Right, I'm in! :)

If we're meeting anywhere earlier, can it be for coffee please? :o

Sounds good... The bus for the zoo is from O'Connell street isn't it? (pfft... as if I don't know)

Anywhere open at that time along there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

Plenty of spots about... it's the number 10 bus but the Luas runs more often.

I'm gonna be staying over in a mates house the night before now, which makes life a bit easier!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 762 ✭✭✭Buzz Lightyear

Where do you get a decent Hazelnut Capachino around the park at that hour ? Huston Stn ?

I'll be driving in from Trim if anyone needs a lift, I've one spare seat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

How long a walk is it from Heuston to the zoo? There's a train that arrives in Heuston at 9:25, or I could just drive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

Never mind, Google Maps tells me it's a 17 minute walk.

Get the train shur, you'll probably pay more on parking than the return journey on the train!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,344 ✭✭✭Thoie

Yes, but apparently it's a 12 minute drive from my house :) I don't really believe it, but we'll see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 762 ✭✭✭Buzz Lightyear

Last time I was in the park the parking was FREE :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

Lol, where are you living? Infirmary Road?

Maybe parking is free? Dublin means public transport for me :o

*culchie wanders off to find out where Infirmary Road is*

    Aha! Nope!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

It's beside the gate to the park to the zoo :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

Parking is free in the park.

    So it's 9.30am this Saturday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

If it's this Saturday I "should" be free. I need to be in Dublin for Saturday night anyway so a full day out in the big smoke is what's needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭MartMax

Cool! So this Saturday 9.30am. We might get a coffee somewhere if earlier. I think there's a feeder bus running from Heuston Station. Or, we could burn some calories by walking to the Zoo. :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

Ah it's only a stroll from Heuston!!!
