Hello. I've decided to start weight training with the aim of building muscle. I'm 23 and 6 foot 1. I weigh 11stone 10. I'm making my plan out, I'm going to have 6 meals a day But I'm confused about insulin spikes. Can anyone explain it to me?

basically, its caused by high GI foods, and its importance to muscle -building is that it increases the bodies ability to take in amino acids, which help build muscle

its important to eat high gi foods after a workout, as muscle glycogen levels are low, so if you do not spike insulin, less protein will be absorbed

you dont want to be constantly spiking insulin though, as if its not needed, the glucose will be stored as fat - breakfast and post workout are when the body needs it most

you should start off with maybe 50g simple carbs post workout - you can adjust this as needed - some people are more/less sensitive to insulin than others
