Right Ive just decided that I need to get fit!

At the moment i suffer from lower back pain and pains in my legs and i know its due to unfitness...

However I have no idea where to start!

Any any advice for a beginner? I am thinking of joining a gym but as i will be moving back to Dublin shortly probably i don't want to do that till i get here. PLus i want to be a little more fitter before i join one anyway

    So any tips/advice anyone has?

    Thanks in advance!

Find an exercise that you enjoy, simple as that.
What part of Dublin will you be living/working in?
The YMCA on Aungier Street is fantastic, loads of exercise classes that are a great workout and fun.

this is possibly due to tight hamstrings.
if you are sitting all day in your job, your hamstrings probably are fairly tight.
try stretching your legs out for 30 to 60 secs on each leg twice a day.
do some bodyweight lunges also as this will give them a stretch also.

when people say i want to be fitter, i generally take that as "i want to be able to run without getting out of breadth", i.e. aerobic fitness.

as said the exercise classes are a great place to start cos of the motivation to do well, and the fact that you can have a set time to do them, so you should stick to them.

if you are hoping to get fitter in order to "tone up", i would advise doing some weight bearing exercises.
not a member of a gym, do bodyweight squats, lunges, push ups.

you could do a home circuit with the exercises.
do 15 reps of squats, then 15 push up and then 20 lunges and then rest.

dont want to run outside? - buy a skipping rope and skip indoors.

Really good advice there ^^ Take that on board and you'll do well :) Good luck!

Only thing I can add is this - don't put things off. Fair enough you don't want to join a gym until you move to Dublin - but don't let that be a hindrance in you starting now. It's very very easy to put things off - trust me I'm an expert!! But - you will be so glad that you put in just a few sessions a week. It'll mean you have a basic fitness level and then you will really get into the gym work if you do join. You'll see results and that will motivate you to keep it up!
