    hi all,
going on holidays in just over 6 weeks time,i really badly need to tone up,my top half isnt really the problem, its really my bottom half which needs to be toned up.im small enough, im 5ft 4 and 8st 5lbs but my thighs are fairly flabby.
my diet isnt too bad (well i dont think it is)
    typical day
breakfast: 30g porridge made with water and a handful of strawberries
lunch: 2 boiled eggs,3 ryvitas,1 slice of cheese
dinner: lentil and veggie curry without rice
    snacks: handful of cashew nuts,apple,grapes
drinks:2l fizzy water, green tea, warm water wit lemon before
    breakfast
what excercise should i be doing to tone up my thighs and butt?i walk a good bit with my 1 year old in the buggy, well about an hour a day, fairly fast walking.
is 6 weeks even enough to see any kind of a difference?,im willing to work hard!
    thanks for any advice:)

You cannot really spot reduce the fat in the area. I would recommend squats, you can just start out doing bodyweight squats, but might consider getting weights. You could fill a back pack with books for weight, or hold some 2L bottles of water. Those big 3L country spring lemonade bottles have wide mouths, these could be filled with gravel. You might even have one of those baby pouch things for your front, you could fill that with heavy stuff, probably has comfy straps, and would be rated to a fair strength, since the makers could not risk failure of them.

check out www.simplefit.org I would also do the full range of exercises show there, e.g. pushups etc. Doing resistance work really boosts your metabolism well and helps shift the fat a lot.

You might also want to get more protein in your diet.

thanks rubadub, will try those excercises, suppose i was kind of asking too much to see an improvement in 6 weeks.
will try adding more protein also,im vegetarian though so it can be difficult

In that case, I strongly recommend you buy some whey protein powder. You can just blend it with ice and water for a milk shake effect (great after the gym or a session of baby lifting) or you can use it to make high protein ice-cream or bars or cakes.

Don't assume it was laziness. She's actually the mother of a small baby, she's had other things to worry about until now.

Give it a rest dubman, if you must criticise do it constructively. A bit of help and support goes a long way for the folk who've had the proverbial balls to post asking for advice.

Indeed. If only people put as much effort into their health as they did into fighting the powah the world would be a better place.

Take a week off and get back to us when you've familiarised yourself with the site and its rules a bit better.

OP 6 weeks is plenty of time to make considerable changes. As rubadub suggested bodyweight squats and also lunges will work wonders for your bum. You can lunge while you're pushing a pram (although you may want to find a relatively secluded section of road/ park to do it :o) and pushing the pram up steep hills will also really engage your bum.
