Right folks, i need to get my ass in gear and join a gym.

Im not overweight by much at the moment (6ft 1 and 13 stone) but could do with losing half a stone and toning up. Football once a week and the odd jog isnt doing it.

ive read thro some of the reviews above but not sure if i have missed any?

I live on grove avenue in blackrock, would ideally like a gym not more than 10 mins away, somewhere that isnt crazy busy and where there is free parking.

Pool would be nice as my girlfriend swims, altho im not fussed.

And i refuse to pay a joining fee, i assume most places will negotiate on this.

Im thinking westwood at the moment, anywhere else i should consider, and anyone got a rough idea on a monthly couples full membership?

    cheers

Westwood would be your best bet. The price is €75 per person per month. Don't think they have any couple deals but you can give it a lash! Joining fee is €350 i think but they constantly have deals like €90euro joining fee today only. If you negotiate you might even get them to get rid of it completely.

Other options include Crunch in Dun L although you have to pay for parking, not sure on what the rates are.

There is also a new "Educogym" opening underneath the old post office (now starbucks) in Backrock. Although be prepared to pay through the nose and theyhave no pool. Also there is little chance of getting parking around the dart station at any time of day. I personally wouldn't recommend educogym.

You'd be better off walking if you are within 10 minutes!

have a look at total fitness in sandyford.
its 60 euro a month, i dont know what the joining fee is.
    its a massive facility tho.

if you are coming from blackrock, you'd be driving past westwood to get to it, might put you off a bit as it probably would be more than 10 mins away.

Cruch in Dl is just at the dart station so that might work for you? Otherwise Cruch in UCD?
