Lift before sleep for max recovery?

Would you be better off lifting weights before bed, then downing food and going straight to bed for a good rest & recovery?

Obviously this would not suit many people and gyms would be closed, but for people working out at home it might be an option, I have been doing it a little lately, I also find it tires me out so I might get to sleep quicker (though it wakes me up in the morning!). I usually do some training in the morning, like today I did 2 sets 8 chins with 20kg. I like the idea of being in a sort of constant PWO mode, with raised metabolism.

Thats what i do,at least during the week.Hit the weights around 7.30..finisih up around 9 ish,get home eat a load of grub and try to be in bed for 11.I usually have a pre-mixed shake beside the bed as well which i can down around 4am.I allways find if you hit the weights in the evening you're guaranteed a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed in the morning.Sometimes if i wasnt working till 3.30 i'd hit the gyma round 11am but tended to find i was completeley shattered by six o'clock and just wanted to hit the sack. This obviously doesnt apply to everybody just my two cents worth.

I train every evening, I try to finish up by about 9:30 and get to bed by about 11 (sometimes doesn't work out) The last while I have also been doing a short session in the mornings before work, this entails getting up at 6:45. The morning training makes it doubly important that I get to bed at a reasonable time.

i did this for a while but found it too tasking (need to be in bed by about 10 for early shift). I was constantly tired.

I moved my workouts to 5pm-ish and am not as sluggish.

I usually get to the gym from 9-10pm on a weeknight. The only problem with a late night workout is that sleep can get disturbed if you overdo it.

I tried getting up early and going from 6:30am-7:30am in the mornings, but the rest of the day was usually a write off. I need to eat, then sleep afterwards.

Personally I find running in the morning even worse.
