Or should i spend my money on a good facial?

Do you mean Creme de la Mer?

A good idea might be to try a sample prior to purchase. You should receive a small pot of it - quite thick but the key is less is more and your fingers warm it prior to application.

Mind you, a facial is also a good idea as someone will be able to take a good look at your skin and either find a cause for this deterioration in the first place.

Are you under a lot of stress over recent months? That can cause a lot of congestion in the skin (especially around the jaw line) and appears as large, hard lumps that never really amount to "proper" spots. I'd suggest spending the money you'd fork out on a jar of creme de la mer on a series of facials instead.

Personally I'd recommend the Dermalogica products of Elmis. They are both expensive (although a long way from creme de la mer) but worth the money. Try to increase the amount of water you drink too and if you smoke try to stop. It does no favours for your skin not to mention all the other bad effects of it on your body!

I would definitely recommend it, it works for me anyway. You can get it in different consistencies to suit your skin type. I would go into BT's and tell them about your skin problems and they will help you choose the right one for you. But I would definitely get a tester pot before you buy, just so you can see if it works for you.

My friend is a dermatologist and she says this cream is as good or as bad as any other decent product, for the money you could get yourself a whole treatment of other creams, facials etc. if you need it.

Would you consider looking at your diet/lifestyle? Certain foods and drinks (and stress) can bring people out in those sounding spots. In which case, creams on their own wouldn't provide much help.

Yeah I would say a course of facials and a good cleansing/moisturising routine would be a lot better than an overpriced cream! It won't work miracles .....

As boring as it sounds it looks like you need to drink more water and take a multi-vit/improve the diet. Are you on the contraceptive pill? Or changed it recently?

My mother's skin looks amazing for a woman of her age and she's used nivea all her life. It's great advantage is that is REALLLLY cheap too :)

personally in your case I wouldnt go down the CDLM route yet. Its quite thick and I wouldnt be in favour of putting a thick cream on already congested skin. From the sounds of it the problems your experiencing are not the typical aging problems - lines and wrinkles etc so an anti aging cream is probably not your best bet.
has your diet changed recently? are you stressed? have you had an allergic reaction to anything?

I use E45 creams as my skin used to look dull and tired and often reacted to other products and my skin has now never been better!
Its worth drinking lots of water and working on your diet for a while to see if that helps. Also, maybe a vitamin supplement aimed at skin like perfectil or one of those to try help your skin from the inside. ketsugo if you can get it is a clear gel that regulates the skins oil content I have found it brilliant

maybe try a new beautician or a dermatologist?

I know how you feel, i never had a spot in my life and my skin is in bits now. I have spots on my forehead under the skin and my skin looks dry and flaky when i put my make up on.

I got a pregnancy mask, its patches of brown skin on your face, but it never went away so thats even worse as they are under and to the side of both eyes :(

Mind you nothing has gone back to normal since i had my baby 9 months ago - and i mean nothing.

I have abused my skin over the years, never moisturising, toning etc. I take my make up off using ponds cold cream in the morning, and put make up straight back on, been doing this 17 years, thought i was getting away with it but its catching up on me now!

Will be interested to know how you get on with your facial, as i might try that myself!

Think the best advice would be go and see a professional and see what they advise for your skin type. Different products work different ways on different people. What is great for one could make some one go purple!

Indulge yourself and ask lots of questions.

water is great.. i had those lumps and upped my water intake and they are gone. a bit of bio oil at night would hel the very dry patches

by any chance have you been over indulging in any specifiic type of food as of late??? Or has work or anything in your life taken its toll on you lately? sometimes these things affect the skin and stress, worry and diet can be major factors.

    :)

I've the same problem myself, it's really annoying!
My skin went really bad over the last 2 years with painful lumps that took weeks to go away. I found drinking lots of water, taking a multivit and trying to eat more fresh fruit helped. I'd recommend that before spending all that cash on CDLM. At least if it doesnt help your skin it'll still be good for your health :)

The extra fruit/water didnt clear my skin up completely so I'm now also getting facials & trying to stick to a good skin care regime... it's only been 3weeks but I'm seeing improvements.

Creme de la mer works really well on dry or mature skin. I have really dry skin and find creme de la mer fantastic but towards the end of a jar my skin starts getting used to it so i alternate with e45 cream which is good but not as good but for the price i wouldn't complain. I do love creme de la mer and its definitely the best cream i've used but its too expensive to buy all the time!

Harvey Nichols occasionally have creme de la mer facial weeks, so if you're looking into forking out for some perhaps getting a facial with the products might not be a bad idea. Harvey Nichols also have elemis products which are decent too. Good Luck!

i think with creams it just depends on your skin type, try getting a sample first, i got it as a present and would use it fairly sparingly but i would class it a miracle cream, maybe go for a facial and the facialist could give you an idea of what might be going on with your skin and then get the products from there

If you have big, sore spots which never get a head, it sounds like cystic acne. If so, I wouldn't advise using something like La Mer. You would need a more specialised treatment, maybe from a GP.

I really don't see the point in spending so much money on a moisturiser anyway.
