Very slow healing collar bone

    Hey, there

Not sure if this is the right forum to be posting this, but didn´t see a Health section (moderators please move to the correct section if it exists). Over four months ago I was knocked off my bike by a car and broke my collar bone. While that in itself is a whole other story for the cycling section my problem is that my collarbone is taking ages to heal. It happened in february and is still quite a way off feeling strong. I´m going back to the consultant every six or eight weeks to have it x-rayed and checked but I really feel there´s very little progress. All she recommends is to keep resting it and let nature take its course. I was active enough before it happened and am starting to get frustrated (esp. when it feels like it´s getting worse rather than better). My question to borders out there is, have any of you experienced the same thing or if not do you have any advice on how to increase the chances of bones healing (I don´t smoke and try and eat a good diet)? Any feedback welcome.

hi there. my brother broke is collar bone a few years ago and from what i remember it took a good 7 months or so to get reasonable movement back. if the knock was bad enough to break it, id say alot of your discomfort would be to do with mustle strain aswell from the neck and shoulder which always takes longer to strenghten especially when you haven been using them due to rest. maby a deep mustle rub or arnica from the chemist would help discomfort while its healing, or if you feel its getting worse think about a second opinion. i feel for ya its bound to be a bitch.
