I read these boards most days and in April I started getting down to training properly again after losing my Dad in December I kinda lost it a bit.

Training for the marathon so I started building up my runs on treadmill - now I cant bear that at all and do all my runs out side. Im getting 3 runs in per week. AFter fab advice from Gem I went back to lifting weights (used to train for competitions years ago) and I forgot how much I missed heavy weight lifting.
I also started taking a protein supplement - slender pro by nutrition x twice a day.

The results I have seen are fantastic. My fitness levels are the best they have ever been. My six pack is back. My body fat is right down, Ive lost 13lbs and Im in size 8's again. My strength has improved phenominally.

Im just wondering as a supplement - can I contine taking the protein for ever more so to speak. My diet is fine but I wouln'dt get enough protein from teh foods I eat hence the supplement.

My husband is wondering if protein can be taken continuously?

    What do you think?

Can you eat chicken on an ongoing basis? how about beef??

Of course you can... it's just protein. It's not like a steroid that needs to be cycled on and off of.

A protein supplement like Slender Pro doesn't contain anything in that would cause concern either short-term or long-term. Drink and enjoy, like Hanley said it's not that much different from getting long-term dietary protein :)

    And well done ;)

Eat away as said. Whey is just another dairy product, little miss muffet has been eating it for years ;)

Mates of mine gets weird ideas about it, warning people off it, but then recommending sugary energy drinks or gel packs. This sugar is processed carbs originally from sugar beet or sugar cane, just like your whey is processed protein originally from milk (slender pro has soy protein too I think).

I see posters saying they are switching protein brands and wondering if they will "see a difference" or claiming to have seen a big difference. To me that would be like saying "I am changing from ballyfree chicken to manor farm, should I see improvements?". I don't know how you would go about evaluating such a subtle difference, many other factors could affect gains/losses.

In saying all that some protein supps are blends of lots of stuff, and there may be a limit to how much you should be eating of the other stuff in it. Slenderpro has some stuff in it, but I don't think it is of any concern.

Well done on getting back on track jakeypooh. Taking supplements for the future should make no difference once you have a healty diet and excersise. Mix it with fruit and oats for a meal replacement, that's what I do and along with good excersise I've lost just over a stone weight.

Still a bit more for me to go yet though. :)
