The term "advance screening" annoys me. You'd be amazed with how many people ring up thinking that we're just screening 10 minutes of it.

when i was a teenager i used to think that and would never go to previews for that reason!

    ahhhh those were the days!

Why are cineworld showing it once that night, surely, just maybe, there might be a little bit of demand for it.

Guess who just saw it last night?

Yes that would be me. You're probably thinking how and goddamn it WHY!!!
My friend works at the IMAX at Navy Pier in Chicago(where we are all currently J1-ing) and the film arrived two days ago. All the staff were allowed watch it last night and were allowed bring 2 friends along. The fact that i saw it 2 weeks before it comes out just added to the sheer brilliance of the movie!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,174 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Well that was definatly illegal! Warner are being really strict about everything to do with this!

    Lucky bastard though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 668 ✭✭✭blow69

I doubt they would mind that much!

It's probably generally accepted that this happens. I mean if the film was lying around for 2 weeks, who wouldn't wtch it and who would expect someone to just leave it in storage.

from very well placed sources. Don't want to say anymore.:D

Was told it should have been available online yesterday, so i don't know why it isn't. It is definitely on though, as I have my tickets sorted! Hopefully the tickets will go on sale through the website today. If they don't pop up I will chase it up around lunch time.

with a movie on reel - the projectionist would usual have a look before opening night - having put the movie together they can say they needed to check they had done it right.

WHen i was a student and worked in the cinema we did this all the time on the grounds of staff being versed in film content to best advise customers. :D

Just spoke to someone in Dundrum who told me that they wouldnt have it up on their system until the 18th of July at the earliest if they are doing previews. Still gonna keep an eye though.

I heard very different to be honest. I was told they should have been advertised this weekend, and that they were supposed to be online by yesterday morning. I'm not sure that it is completely up to the cinema though, i think they might be waiting for the green lights from a someone else.. I might find out some more later.

Yeah but there's a difference with this fim,. Director's been really being strict on it,like he only wants it on 35mm reel,he's only allowing three digital copies between here and the UK!

Same thing at the cinema I work at now. The projectionists have to view it anyway, and the rest of the staff are allowed to go along with one friend. They'll be showing a staff screening where I'm working provided that it arrives a day or two before the 23rd. I've booked tickets to the advance screening though just in case. I'll just get a refund if I have to! It's not illegal, cos no matter what the studios do the projectionists still have to make sure the film that they're putting on is alright to show to the public. For example, when the Darjeeling Limited came in last year the distributors accidentally sent the same reel twice. They only realised after the first reel finished though, I just left because I wanted to see it properly.

stop whining. what's the point in working there if you dont get some decent perks like this? Come the 25th it wont matter that someone saw it on the 18th or even yesterday.

The Imax at Navy Pier is not that special though. They only show 2 movies at any time, is expensive, and worst of all they sell only Pepsi drinks.Yuck!
