Some Advice On Getting Fit

Im starting a 2 month plan where im going to work really hard to lose weight. Im already 1 week into it and im not so imporessed. Im 16st4lb and its about time i starteddoing something about it, im not sure of my height, probably aound 5" 10 or 11 maybe.

Anyway ive done diets before and even without exercise i tend to lose about 7lb in the 1st week easy enough and then it obviously slows down. This time i lost 4 lb in the 1st 4 days, put on 2 lb over the next 2 days lost a lb and put on another lb and im only down 2lb after 8 days which is depressing. This is what ive been doing.

Im following the Weight Watcher Core plan, ive basically being trying to stick to fresh non fatty foods. Im a bit fussy so ive been mostly sticking to the same meals. 1st meal i have 2-3 weetabix with fresh strawberries and Banana sometimes and low fat milk.

2nd meal id have maybe 3 rye bread with laughing cow cheese spread, ham and tomato and maybe 1-2 boiled egg or maybe some fruit instead like a pear and a plum and then for the 3rd meal ill have a dinner almost always 3 mashed potato's with no butter, 1 fresh carrot and half a tin of processed peas 110g and i usually throw some Bisto Gravy Granuales over that.

Your also allowed 21 points on top of that but i didnt even bother this week as the meals were satisfying. I did probably eat too much the 1st 3 days and slowly reduced the amounts i was eating till i was eating till i was satisfied. I also leave about 3-5 hours between each meal and occassionally but not too often have some fruits like banana, pears, plums etc and ive been drinking heaps of water.

Im obviously not too fit at my weight so ive been at the Gym, Im doing 15 mins on the threadmill usually 3-5 mins at 8.5, 7-8 mins at 9.5 and finish off with a short period at 10.5 (Dont know if them numbers are standard), then do 15 mins on the bike at 8 resistance and 15 mins on them step/ski yokes.

I then do some weights, i do 20 reps of all the machines and do 30 reps with the dumbells and i repaeat and then i usually go for 1 lap in the pool (bad swimmer) and then jacuzzi and steam room.

I done that 4 days last week and played ball 2 times for an hour albeit i mostly played in goal but after all my exercises and football im usually sweating heavily and i do put in effort so i dont think its because im slacking or taking it easy, ill usually need to catch my breathe after most exercises for a minute or two. Why am i not losing enough weight or does anyone recommed another plan.

Half the reason im like this is because im fond of a few pints at the weekend but its not the drink thats the main problem, i overeat at the end of the night after a few pints as it gives me a huge appetite and also the next day i dont feel like exercising or eating anything healthy like an omlette or weetabix and end up eating junk food and its a viscious circle. I have been off the drink for a week and im staying off it for 2 months to kick start this plan.

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. Off to the Gym now

Like I discovered myself it's as easy as:

Eating less (lots less) of crap (those few pints ARE in fact a killer. Massive on the calories and like you said yourself make you want junk (more calories) and puts you out of action for the day afterwards no exercise).

Eating more of the good stuff. (you know..... vegetables)

Exercise (by the way, you'll probably see better results by dropping the weights machines and lifting heavier weights for less reps).

The one really crap fact is that it takes time and responsibility. A 2 month 'plan' is a step in the right direction but the thing you have to accept is that it's for life, not just for christmas. You can't accept that then you'll just have to learn to love your man boobs.

Good post - esp the last paragraph.
