I started my first class in this on Monday just gone...

The pain only set in yesterday and today its worse

Problem is, I have another class in it tonight and I have no idea how I will be able for it!

I can barely walk, sit, raise my arms and walking up and down stairs is horrific!! I am slightly enjoying the pain but when I have to bend down and pick something up that is when the real pain sets in!!

So just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get thru the pain and also for the class tonight, will my muscles be able for it or will I just collapse!?

Ok people please help!! Seriously, its a sat night and I cannot go out as I cant feckin walk.

After my second class, my hamstrings are still in agony. I cannot extend my legs properly and sitting down/standing up is torture. I am walking around as if I was....ya get the jist!

I've had two hot baths since yesterday morn and I even had a deep tissue massage today... I tried to walk the dogs but didnt get very far. How long does this pain last? How many sessions do I need to go thru before my muscles get used to it?

How do you ease this pain  I would very much like to walk & go to teh gym tomorrow.

you do need rest / recovery time too :) otherwise you are just going to fatigue and exhaust yourself, and worst case increase risk of injury...

your drive to getting into it is well impressive, just learn how to pace yourself too... if you are consistently ending up with such severe muscle soreness after working out, then try scaling back a bit and overloading yourself more gradually, try aiming for a more managed progression over time, rather than constantly blasting the be'jaysus out of your self :)

how about having a rest day tomorrow give those legs a rest, or if staying still is impossible maybe just going for a light swim (or no impact alternative)?

Maybe I should give a little history.. A couple of years ago I was in a bad car crash and injured my lower back. It has only really been since the start of this year that I could really do any exercise.

I have signed up for 2 of these classes a week and I aim to go to the gym 2 or 3 times also - but just to build myself up gradually as you said.

So far this week all I have managed to do is one gym session and the 2 kettlebells classes - and I really think my legs are acting up from lack of proper use over the couple of years. So technically I have had two rest days already since thursday, and I am really eager to get moving again!:D

I was thinking that if I went to the gym for cardio only that I would be able to warm up those sore muscles and work them out and ease off the pain?

If you've gone from no training to lots of training quite quickly then it is to be expected.

I've always found the best way to get around DOMS is to move as much as possible. Some light weights, lots of walking and other types of movement in general.

In my experience, DOMS get worse when you sit around waiting to go away by themself.

Well I am planning on bringing the dogs for a little run in a while, just trying to stretch out my legs first! So hopefully that will help me!

    thanks for all the advice!

perhaps try a lighter kettlebell in the class until you adapt a bit more, initially you should be aiming for getting good (as close to perfect) form and technique, then as you are able progress up in resistance... you shouldn't be continuously suffering from muscle soreness where it is affecting your daily life or other activities you want to take part in... sure feeling like you worked out is great... but to the degree where you are finding it hard to even walk afterwards i'd deffo suggest scaling back a little and working up from there...
