Crunch UCD - Regular Meet Ups?

Hi there, met another regular from Crunch UCD out there at the weekend and got me thinking that it would be great to have a semi-social regulars meet up maybe once a week/fortnight.

Maybe one afternoon at the weekend for regulars to meet up and get some serious training in. I think it would be maybe also good for the gym in general; if regulars started forming more of a serious scene and even doing the unthinkable and putting weights back in order etc, it might filter down and make the place altogether far more usable.

Just an idea anyway; I'm not sure how many people train here in UCD but if your interested post and let me know. Even those who are new might benefit from the experience of others. In many ways its not a fantastic gym but there are certainly a cohort who do put the work in and are committed.

I know what you mean. The weights room is generally a mess. As a rule of thumb I always put back all my stuff when I'm finished with it. If everyone else did the same we'd be sorted.

TBH I don't have too much complaints about the gym. It's cheap, has all the equiptment I need and its never seems to be too busy. I would agree that perhaps its not the most social of gyms and very few people seem to know each other (a bit like UCD in many respects).

I'm there most Saturdays. It would be good to put a few faces to names.

    +1

I train there about 4 times a week, usually late and for the amout of regulars I see down there, people are not very social and considering the number of people who seem to be on here for advice or to air their grievances about the UCD gym, you'll probably find you know most of these people to see. Makes sense, Im in.

Im a UCD student but im not a member of the UCD gym(mainly due to the messy weights room, lack of equipment and huge numbers of "class 07/08" posers). However,I don't see myself being able to train at my regular gym as often as I would like when college resumes,so im quite interested in this.
Maybe some of you guys(and girls!) can share your goals in this thread so that others who have similar goals can join you.

On a side not,I was thinking about forming something along the lines of a "fitness society" as I was walking around the UCD freshers tent last year. What do you guys think of such an idea?Do you think that such a society could get a few hundred members? How about a "fitness society olympia":D

Could be an idea, maybe start a seperate thread and see what people think, this was more aimed at a casual regular meet-up than a "society and goals" thread.

Sometime the weights room looks like a bomb just hit it!

Not interested in making my gym time a social one though, its get and get out for me. Don't want to spen anymore time there than I have too.
