Combining Aerobic and Anaerobic Excercise

    Hey guys,

because of injury, I havent done any aerobic excercise of significance in the last few years. Instead I've been doing a steady amount of anaerobic.
Although i gain weight with difficulty and have a never changing body fat of less then 10% I've been putting on weight steadily, thanks in large part to advice gleaned from this forum.

Anyway, recently i've started cycling about 100+ miles a week, I push myself hard with every cycle in order to improve times etc, and i'm enjoying it, but the weight is falling off me, and my anaerobic abilities are suffering, I can do less and also I recover slower.

I already have a decent diet and eat a lot, what i'm looking for is a good supplement or group of supplements that would include extra protein and calory intake as well as recovery help.

another thing; i stay clear of sugar as much as possible, so i really cant tolerate flavoured supplements, in the past i've gone for unflavoured protein shakes but havent explored beyond those.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Ahh the beauty of long slow distance cardio.

Let me ask you, why are you putting in so much bike hours?

Whats your goal ? I assume it is not to get bigger/stronger or you wouldn't be doing 100+ miles a week.

I love cycling and I enjoy the health benefits that come with being fit, I missed pushing myself in the aerobic sense. I dont really have any goals in this regard other then that.

As far as my weight is concerned, my goal i suppose is not to lose the weight I've gained, even to continue to gain weight though it may be very slowly.

Isn't is possible to do both?!

Are you eating more now than before you started cycling this much? To do 100+ miles a week and not lose weight you would need to be eating a lot of healthy foods. As for supplements, try getting more food into you first before looking at other options...

well i was eating a lot anyway, I have increased my intake, but at 6 meals a day, plus snacking on tuna and nuts and that kind of thing, there's not a whole lot more i can do, which is why I'm looking into supplements.
