Do you wear a watch?

    I don't.

I find that wearing anything like this highly irritating.

Rings, a watch, anything around my neck etc etc.

I specifically ask about watches, because they seem, to me, to be a bit unnecessary in today's world, no?

Mobile phones have in-built clocks. I use my mobile like an old-style pocket watch tbh. Most every computer has a clock display in the corner somewhere. Sky News, and the like, constantly display the time. As does the "TV Guide" button on digital TV systems.

So, do you wear a watch?

    A poll perhaps?

    I don't wear a watch.

Any watch I've ever owned, I've taken the strap off and used as a pocket watch anyway.

Like you, I enjoy the naked feeling of living a bling-free life.

I used to wear a watch until the strap thing broke, but it was just a pain to have around anyways.

I wear the odd ring now and then, though.

I wear a watch, taking your phone outta your pocket to check the time is an annoyance, especially if your sitting down ansd wearing jeans...watches FTW.

I haven't worn a watch in about 5 years maybe more but yet every birthday or christmas is another chance for people to buy me more watchs i wont wear.

I used to wear my watch every day, all the time, without fail.

Then it broke and I never got it fixed, that was about 3 years ago, havent worn one since.

I think the mobile phone has replaced the watch, well for me anyway.

I wear one only because I use it for when I am out running, things like hearth rate monitor, stop watch, lap memory etc. Oh and I use it as a second or third alarm depending

    Occasionally - whenever I wear a suit.
Otherwise the phone is all I need.

I wear one at work to keep track of my activity log. Not allowed carry my phone around.

Nah I haven't worn a watch in years really... I also find it irritating, and used to take it off when on the computer, etc. Now I just look at my phone if I need the time and I'm out somewhere.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,082 ✭✭✭Captain Ginger

Nope, since at work I'm always sitting at a PC and when I'm not here I always have my phone on me.

Not really a fan of having things I don't need.

it keeps an eye on activity and lets you know when you need to 'drop a log'?
    cool watch.

I haven't worn a watch in 3 years. I have been kinda meaning to get myself a new one, but I couldn't really be arsed. I like having a watch, but it would hurt my wrist while on the computer for some reason. anyway like most other people on the thread I just use my phone, but it can get a bit irksome

I live in Dublin which is swarming with Johnny Foreigner and the working class, and so stopping and taking out my phone to see the time would only invite them to ravish me and steal my shiny valuables. Therefore, it is best for me to have a watch that I can look at while swinging my cane at the huddled masses.

Never, hate watches - always felt to heavy on my wrist.

I do have a couple of festival wristbands on my wirst though;)

aren't watches just a fasion statment now though, not really used to tell the time, but just to look good?

Yes, they are a fashion statement.......in the same way that wearing festival wristbands are.

This is why we need a 'thank you' button in AH. Quality post.

On Topic: Every watch i have ever owned has been lost as a result of taking it off to wash my hands and walking off without it. Every single one.

You're right here. I do wear a watch, but if it broke, I'd probably not buy another.

About 50% of the time i will have a watch on. I like them myself but they can be annoying at times.

Apart from when I am cleaning or swimming!

Watches are the ultimate accessory. So, you can get the time on phones etc, but its still handier to look at a watch. A nice watch just looks classy on your wrist, so they serve 2 purposes, telling the time and looking good. Plus, less likely to run out of power than a phone.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 196 ✭✭Clink

Nope don't wear a watch. I can't stand the feeling of having something on my wrist. Plus when I used to wear one I'd get obsessive looking at the time every 2minutes.

I hate being in the company of someone who keeps looking at their watch too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭Nichololas

Same as the OP - don't like wearing watches or anything else like it. I don't wear glasses even though I need them because I found them more distracting than anything. Contacts ftw..

I always wear a watch, I'm very much into timekeeping and punctuality.

Yes. Phone batteries die a lot more regularly than watch batteries.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,487 ✭✭✭boneless

I feel naked without my watch. I have a cheap old MilTec which seems to have an everlasting battery. Handier than taking out the cell phone all the time in my opinion.

Never used to wear a watch until about a year ago - now I find it indispensable during training - rowing and cycling are hardly easy sports to be able to whip a phone out and check the time. Tend to wear it 24/7 now

I'm exactly the same way. I can't wear watches, jewelry or anything else like that. It annoys the hell out of me.

    Always a watch ...

Either this one or a heavier one.

    Dont like light watches..

I am a total saddo going by most posts :o

I have a watch for everyday wear (swatch) and one that I wear at the weekends.
Got another one a few years back that I also wear now and then.

I likes watches. I can't not wear one because I have a tan line from it. Oh the shame! :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,283 ✭✭✭Ross_Mahon

I use my phone for the time, reminders, and the date if i somehow forget. I think the only reason to wear a watch is to show off or your old school, the phone pretty much does everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 773 ✭✭✭echosound

I wear a watch. Didn't for years, just used the mobile to check the time, but found that it is far easier to take a sneaky peek at a watch if you're attending something very dull rather than whipping out a mobile every 20 seconds to see if you've put in enough time to be able to leave without appearing overly rude.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,477 ✭✭✭Riddle101

Yeah i wear a watch although i take it off as soon as i get home and sometimes forget to put it on.

But i always wear it when i go out for a night in the town because it stylish

only on special ocassions, my wrists are constantly resting on the desk at work and that scratches the watch clasp and i don't want that to happen.

Ha! Remember the ones with the universal TV remotes on them?! We used to have great craic in school if we were watching a video!

I'm a watch wearer, but I take it off at night or if I am just lounging around the house watching telly/whatever. The longest I have gone without wearing a watch is about a month I tihnk when I was too lazy to get the strap replaced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

I don't like things on my veins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Always wear one. Only on the left hand. I don't trust people who wear a watch on their right hand.

If I wore one, it'd be on my right because I'm left handed.

The only times I don't wear a watch are in bed or in the shower.

Oh and I don't wear one when I'm interrogating someone because:

    a) it's hard to get the blood out
    b) it aids in sensory deprivation if they have no idea how long they've been suspended from the meat-hook in the ceiling.

I nearly always wear a watch, easier than taking the phone out of the pocket and unlocking it.:D

I'm right-handed and wear my watch on my right wrist.
