Cavity Trays

Am building own house and blocklayer laying blocks from 1st floor to roof level. I have bay window to front and sun room to back. Will be plastering all walls and homebond book says I need cavity trays to catch any water penetrating down cavity. Trays alone will set me back circa €2000. Any alternatives? Are they critical…

A stepped DPC will probably get you out of most situations. Must be done before the blockwork though. alternatively lead flashings depending on the situation.
