if you are bring a girl out on a first date where would you go / what would you do?

normally, if I can get into town, I will bring her to the cinema and go for a small bite to eat afterwards. if I'm just in my home town I will probably go for a coffee date.

Cinema is the worst thing you can do on a first date. You cant get to know the person very well while you sit silently through a movie. Always a coffee and then some kind of activity. Bowling / Pool etc. Second date drinks. Third date dinner follwoed by a sex session. Fourth date groping in the cinema.

Filem and a walk in the park.

Some people say cinema is bad on a a first date but its something you can talk about afterwards when gone for dinner/drinks... there's is nothing worse than one sided conversations and agonising silences. (that was a bad one!)

Dinner probably is the safest bet. Can't get to know someone in a cinema now can you!? Go for dinner and if she seems like the fun type thats up for a laugh go to a club/pub after?

Although RB's suggestion is plausible :p

Daytime - if its a nice day, picnic in Glendalough
    Night - coffee/dinner not cinema.

One of the best dates I had was dinner, followed by cinema, followed by a drive and long walk.
    *sigh*

Coffee for a first date if you want to make sure you're not meeting an axe murderer.

For a first date with someone you know about already, a shooting range. Excellent excuse to make first physical contact. "OK, put your hands on the grip like this... no, here, move them this way.. now move your hips and legs as so..."

Then again, I'm a bit strange. Date #2 with the Better Half was a tank museum.

dinner for a first date? that's too formal. at least the cinema is more relaxed, and as someone pointed out, you have something to talk about over the meal / drinks / walk / sex afterwards

Where you bring a girl on a first date really depends on you and the girl.

If you are a good conversationalist then dinner is really the only way to go. It's classy and easy and always a safe bet. If you are rubbish at that then a casual activity is always good. Pool in a not-too-busy bar, something like that. Overall tailor it to you and her personality.

Head for the overpass and bring my camera.

After that it gets very GTA.

As a girl ideal first date would be drinks(preferably midweek or early in the week as the bars are empty), cinema-NO, comedy-depends, lunch-yes, dinner-NO

I wanted to take a girl to the zoo on a first date and she rang and said she'd be a few hours late so the zoo ended up being closed.

Ended up going for drinks instead and we didn't get together.

I blame it on not going to the zoo.

No girl can resist cute animals!

Although I went to cinema with a chick on a 3rd/4th date once and I was happy enough to just sit there and watch the film but she wouldn't stfu. I was really getting into that chick flick too jeeez.

My last first date was dundrum cinema, but we had a drink before in Winters bar.

Met a little earlier than the movie enough to hav a decent chat then in we went. Was nice to have a chat first but knowing if things got weird or hard to talk you were goin to the movie anyway. :)

ya agreed that the cinema is crap to bring them..best thing would be to an average sized pub with a live band playing! if your not into that as mentioned and from Limerick city something different would be to go to the unigolf in castletroy..only one of its kind in the world, great fun and different! thats the thing you want to get around..different!! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭NorfolkEnchants

Always go for something different, suggest something that she would never have thought of, like tell her you'll meet her in the park to feed the ducks. If she's up her own a*se then make sure you make her bring the bread, flawless policy to make her reconsider herself!

    A game of bingo perhaps.

Thats how I met my lovely second wife. She was 78 I was 22. We fell in love when I saw her bank balance. We married and She died of a heart attack on the wedding night. Now I own several bars around the country and have my own pool of jello.

    MORAL: Go to bingo.

from my experience women are pretty uncomfortable eating around guys they are interested in but they dont know very well so id stay away from the dinner option.. i find coffee to be a good option, defo leaves potential for a quick getaway if needs be:D
