Good deal but pity there is no DVD burner. What is the story with the Business website. Are we allowed to buy off it?

104 ex vat and delivery, 21.97 vat, + 30 delivery

By updating to 2GB and the DVD burner, you can get the sytem for approx 176.

I'll be picking one up I'd say.

    -edit -
actually didn't upgrade to 2GB for that price

Of course they are makign a profit. Dell buy in bulk. They would buy thousands of RAM, HDDs etc and so can sell things cheap.

Lad, if you're well stretched for a monitor and will use a CRT, go to the Free section on Adverts.ie
There's always a few knocking around there.

Sure who'd be without a monitor these days. Back in the day it was different...walked to school with bare turf underneath thesnow on our handssss.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz etc etc etc

"any idea on how quite these run ? specifically want one for a htpc and dont want a hoover under the tv."
I have a Vostro for exactly that purpose and all runs fine, with a SkyHD box and HDTV there are 3 fans running already so I noticed nothing...

you'll normally have it within a week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

Any1 know what that processor is like???Theyre asking a whopping 115e(about two thirds of the price of the basic system) to upgrade to the most basic core2duo.That makes the built in one sound pretty bad.Btw, is this an "offer" or will it still be there in a few days time???Finally, can you buy this as a home customer no bother???Thnx for the help

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,871 ✭✭✭Conor108

My ones coming to €216 with vat + shipping.

I only upgraded to the 2.2Ghz CPU. And I've used the 10% Off and the €30 off thing. I'll go back to the default CPU. Sure can always try to overclock but probably wont need to.

EDIT:Ok Now its at €192. How much does that coupon take off (BG1D23XVTRVZ14)? Does it only work between 2pm - 4pm tomorrow?#
2nd EDIT: Ah twas the burner. Should be €157ish now with the voucher. and €30 less if i pick it up meself. ;)

the cheapest there is 37euro for 2gb, so you could order the system with 1gb and just sell that, or keep it and have a total of 3gb.

Personally, i'd go with ordering with 1gb and just buy the 2gb from that site, so you end up with 3GB, can never have enough ram:)

Gotta be honest.I dont know that much about pcs.I didnt even realise you could do that!!!!Is it tough to install new ram??It can take 3gb ram can it??Its just i know that some, even modern pcs cant take more that 2gb.Really great deal overall.I cant wait to hook this up to my samsung 19" lcd
BTW, if anyone is looking for a huge monitor at a good price, i saw this one earlier

To be honest, this PC isn't up for gaming, the Processor/graphics chip aren't made for gaming, its a entry level pc for browsing sites/music/dvds that sort of stuff.

You can play any game, if you put in an 8800gs and 1gb of ram

Does this have a scart on the back of it or do I need to go for the 19 in one media card thing.

surley the CPU is to weak to handle games?

Plus, i read that these PC's PSU doesnt have a power socket for the graphics card, so your going to need a new PSU aswell.

Cpu is plenty fast for games, you need an adaptor ( SATA-2-Molex Adapter ) like this for the graphics

    SATA2MOLEX.jpg

You can get them for a few euro on ebay or online computer shop...

    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=20580

Psu has plenty of power, it can power up to an 8800gt no problem..

been waiting for a vostro code to buy my new machine + monitor, thanks OP! Just saved €75

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 39 gavdbyrne

Just picked one of these up and am trying to decide on a graphics card. I will mainly be using it for high definition video playback connected to my 1080p tv. I upgraded to the E2200 (2.20GHz, 800MHz, 1MB cache)

This card has HMDI output and is PCI Express x16 2.0, I don't think the vostron is 2.0 so will this still work fine? (just maybe at lower performance)http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=346539

Would this be better for what I want to do than this card which seems to have been recommended by a few people already http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=345164

Will there be any problems with the PSU?? Do I just need a SATA-2-Molex Adapter like was said in a previous post?

Anything else I need to consider? Going to get an extra 2 gig RAM to the 1 that comes with it, I assume this will do the job http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=336009

    the ram is fine.

i would go for the 8800GS as you'll get a better resolution etc, plus it will handle games if you want it to.

Im not to sure about the PSU, i've read that their isn't a dedicated PCI-E power lead, so youll have to get a adapter.

    Thanks for the reply!

Do you think there will be enough power to drive either card with the adapter?
