some of the usernames need a pronunciation key tho

    I cite
    ojewriej as an example

I mean seriously how is that pronounced?

I'm sorry I just noticed your post now.

And thank you for your interest - I put the pronunciation key in the location field under my nick. Hope this helps.

Chose my name 8 years ago, cos it was the first thing that jumped to mind. I wrote a fair bit back then... poems, short stories, etc. Wouldn't mind changing it now, - feel it's a bit dated. No idea what to change it to though.

    *BUMP*

Had to bump this thread as soon as I noticed that there's a user called HelgaTheSwedishMilkmaid!!! :D:D

Best name I've seen in a while...

Oops, only just noticed that HelgaTheSwedishMilkmaid is not a new user, the last time she (?) posted was 2004 and she (?) only ever posted in the Phantom FM forum.

    Still, it's a fantastic username. :D

    Alkaline Trio-From Here To Infirmary.

I'm 18 now, which means I was maybe 14(?) when I got my hands on that album? Teenage angst and the rest. Track 1, Private Eye....second that guitar kicks in we're away in headphonesland.

    Or an MC5 fan.

I'm thinking of changing my actually..

.. but can't think of a decent one. Had 'squill' for a while but no-one liked that.

** gets thinking cap on **

    Hmmmmmmm..

I saw Pogue Mahone on another forum, and I thought it was the coolest username I had ever come across since discovering the internet, almost 3 years ago.

Was just gonna say that actually. It's originally an MC5 song. Lots of bands have done covers of it. My favourite would be the cover by the Presidents of the USA. :)

    Smart man there.

The RATM cover was grand and all but the original is the best IMHO.

Although I must ask what is "greaming authority"?

I'd stay as you are, it's a good name imo.

Don't like mine, it's boring and predictable for my occupation. Have a better one in mind but have to have a good think about it and get myself subscribed...

Agreed with schism, it's a great name. How the fúck do you pronounce it though.

It's like scism but with more of a schk at the start. :P

Cheers, and it's pronounced: 'bass' (as in Bertie's favourite tipple) 'quill' (as in a feather pen type thing).

Not too tough but does catch most people out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

I always read it as Baskee'l and tbh will probably continue to...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

Yeah I always saw it as Bas-kweel!

Most people that try to pronounce mine go for shism. Makes me wonder why people ignore the 'c'.
