Your vehicle of choice

Seeing as we’ve had the weapon of choice we need to discuss vehicles. I personally think playing the defensive card is ultimately the best way to survive Z-Day. I’d lock myself up in the Presbytery church in Castleknock high in the clock tower (close to my house) with a sniper rifle but then you run into the problem of supplies and you may need to gather a small team of hardened zombie killer friends and set off on a supply gathering mission!

I nominate this bay boy, The Talon riot control vehicle that I just saw on top gear!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31YE2ESfmw

I also put forward a motion that all funds collected by the zombie forum should go towards getting a few of these monsters and kitting out its 15 man team with the weapons to open up a can of zombie whoop @ss! :D

with or similar stored ontop (just incase of emergencies)

    http://www.nearfield.com/~dan/sports/bike/mountain/chino/D4925.jpg

would need to be tested... long enough "runway"

High voltage perimeter on the truck too.... to stop climbers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭Martron

you would not reallt need a runway. the truck could drive and then you could just fire up the engine on the micro light and hope the truck has got enough speed to create lift.

    truck good idea.

Realistically speaking I would go with one of these badboys:

    caterpillar-electric-2500kg-forklift-small.jpg

They would be easily accessible with any large supermarket having one. You could reinforce the glass, attach doors to the side and the forks at the front can be used as weapons. Plus you can adjust the height of them- perfect for squashing heads. And they can go pretty fast.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 152 ✭✭Annatar

hmmmm but the powerglider is there if the truck gets stuck...

Ahh there should be enough room for liftoff. Stick in a groovy ski jump abit like the brit aircraft carriers for harriers.

With trucks, who needs speed. Just grind em.

Ohh feck!!! a simple mod.... Bodicca Wheel Hubs. Mightnt kill but itll sure as hell slow them down

Sweet..But wayyyy too complex.A Bio ethonal engine, thats race tuned?? A very complex suspension thats race tuned. You will be hard pushed to fix this with the contents of Halfords:D.Speed isnt the problem here folks.Zs are not known for rallying skills or driving anyway. What you need is masses of TORQUE,to mush over/into and through the deviant dead.So somthing that waddles along at 60mph is grand so long as it can climb a 15ft pile of dead in high four wheel drive is more sensible.
The Talon would be good,or there are now plenty of EX British army/RUC Saracens available on the surplus market. They were built for riots anyway, and short of an RPG hit un knockout able.About 8k for a good one.Bit thirsty mind,Rolls Royce V8 8litre petrol. 6WD.

For those who are fancying the Damnation Landmaster vechicle
    heres it's homepage

Only good thing out of both a crappy movie and book IMO.

Not if you keep them clean.Which you will be doing before brushing the teeth before knocking off for the night.:)
And you will be counting your shots as;each one will have to be a hit,you might find it a problem getting ammo in the future.Spray and pray,is useless.Single shots ,well aimed is what you want.:)

my good friend did we not have a similar argument in a different thread (re: oilrigs). complexity i thought really did not matter in the ideal world. and i could imagine the nemesis would have as much torque as you could ever use.

beside all that i could make my own bio ethenol. with the rotting carcasss of the dead zombies. easy peasy!!!

as for fixing the suspension..... halfords would have a haynes manual that i could use off a range rover sport. with a bit of tweaking..... ok a lot!!

And dont let me ever hear you say again that speed does not matter!!!!

Difference Matron is,if you are residing on a oil rig in this time of Zs,you are not drilling for oil or natural gas.Hence 98% of the equipment is of no concern to you or use either. So the most complex issue for you will be to get the power running, and then after that fixing the blown fuse in the kettle plug and figuring out the radio comms if you want to.

OTOH if your bug out vechicle which your life could depend on,is way too complex and yo ucant salvage bits from another vechicle of type, your ass is cooked.Lets face it the Nemisis is a nice bit of kit sure. But how much load carrying capability has it?Proably not much under the turtleback, where there is proably a massive fuel tank.It is a rally car/4wd.It has the massive torque ,because it is light and has alot of composite materials in it.I always love the Mitsubishi ads for their Pajeros."Winner of X times the Paris Dakar rally".When you lookat one of the winners, the only thing they have in common with a normal Pajero is the badge on the grile nothing else..a normal Pjero wouldnt make it thru one day in the Dakar rally. If you did need a lot of power, why not just pick up a RR Sport.at least you have Some cargo carrying capacity.Plus why be whizzing around at silly speeds, your fuel is going to be pretty valueable in the brave new world. Was a problem I had with Mad Max films.Where was he getting all this gas from in a oil peaked world, and why was he driving stupidly long distances all over Oz as well, for what reason?

beside all that i could make my own bio ethenol. with the rotting carcasss of the dead zombies. easy peasy!!!
Didnt realise Zombies are vegtable matter!:)
as for fixing the suspension..... halfords would have a haynes manual that i could use off a range rover sport. with a bit of tweaking..... ok a lot!!

Ever try getting RRover Sport bits in Halfords???Haynes manuals, should be re titled PAINS manuals. I have used them for RRover Classic,Jeep Cherokee,Land Rover Defender110.They take you on a long way round method of doing some jobs for no discernabile reason.Best manuals i have eVER used were Mercedes G wagon or Unimog manuals.Brilliant photos, clear instructions.Haynes could learn alot from them.

And dont let me ever hear you say again that speed does not matter
Errr. For what exactly do you need the speed for escaping Zombies,or spikey haired mutants in leather on motor bikes?:D

its low maintainnace. has lots of torque. its designed with durability in mind. its runs on old fashioned diesel. all you ever have to do with these things is change oil and filters. it has no suspension to worry about!!!!
