They predicted Larkin, Rich and Mahon for Enlish - all 3 came uo
they predicted literary genre and theme and issue - both came up

Irish they predicted as essay on the health service - it came up

Maths 2 - they predicted perp. distance and cos rule - both came up

Geography they predicted human interference with the biome - it came up

I'm guessing this isn't luck and the people they interviewset the paper

    Either way I'm happy :)

    7pm every night!

Hah, 'fraid i wouldn't think so. I only do the maths and eng, but in fairness the things that came up there were fairly obv! so i had the poets and those formulae doubly learnt:)

Must give it a listen before History then so ;)

OP do you have past exam papers? Cause that is entirely what their predictions are based on.

Take English for example. Cultural context wasn't likely to come up because it came up in 2006 and 2007. By process of elimination, theme/issue and lit genre were likely to appear.

They're not crazily insightful or anything.

Bah! I listened to it most nights last year and did bugger all good :(
Predicted isostasy in Geography - nope. Had to skip the Rivers question because I was sure it would come up.
Predicted "An Mhathair" for Irish poetry - nope. Nice easy poem, would have been great to answer on.
Predicted Kavanagh for English - nope. Luckily we got Plath so I survived! :)

The one thing it did predict correctly that I wouldn't have thought of myself was a theorem on Maths Paper 2 (the one about difference equations, think it was Q.6) :)

The programme is an interesting listen all the same.

If that's true, they won't be setting it again.

But it's nothing an on the ball teacher couldn't predict. People who set the papers aren't allowed to comment on them anyway.

    From SEC website:
    As Drafter/Setter
You must not undertake any work which might conflict with your responsibilities as
Drafter/Setter. Until such time as the examination for which you are drafting/setting has taken
    place you are precluded from
    • undertaking any work related to the preparation of examination papers, in the same subject
area, for a commercial examining organisation
    • setting test items, in the same subject area, for publication
giving advice in public media in relation to examinations in the subject area in question• giving advice to teacher groups, e.g. subject associations, in relation to examinations in the
    subject area in question.

Da mB'fhedir Aris Dar gCumann :p

In fairness they aren't going to tell you exactly what is going to appear, if that was the case then everybody with a radio could get an A. I think we're pretty lucky with the stage the course is at that its pretty much narrowed down to 4 honours poems, I'd hate to be doing it the first year of a new course.

The Business teacher on didn't say that much really cos there's no real way of predicting, except to focus on the ABQ units.

    Did they give History Predictions?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 122 ✭✭DowneyBookGirl

I only caught the last 5 mins, so all I heard the guy say was "Focus on the case studies."

I'd say look over the last 2 years of exam papers, and cover about 4 or 5 topics from each section. Make sure you have about 2 case studies from each book included in these. I know 12-15 (excl. documents) is a lot but its a good way to cover yourself fully for tomorrow.

Good luck. I think we all need it.... :o
