    Where's the underwight options?

Not that that's me or anything

I'm fairly well built in terms of having broad shoulders/back etc but I'm certainly carrying a few extra pounds. I used to be quite thin, probably underweight but gained quite a few pounds since then and have went over the line of normal to a few pounds over.

Planning on losing the extra few before I go away again in August though, I don't drink often so it won't really stop me, just got to knock the sheer amont of coke I drink per day on the head.

Hmm, like Ray Winstone, but taller.

I'm not lanky, and I'm not morbidly obese, therefore I is perfect.

I have a beer belly, and wide shanks at the thighs, but hey, look on the brightside, if the world does go hungary, I'll last a small bit longer than everyone else with my fat supplies.

I'm pretty much the right weight for my height. But then, I'm not very tall, 5'7" I think, but I'm quite well built, very strong thighs, I did a lot of cycling growing up.

I'm just underweight for my height, although the whole BMI thing is a load of crap as it doesn't take into account muscle, of which I have one. I'm tiny anyway so I carry my underweightness well.

Bmi has been proven to be ineffective, but because Weightwatchers use it, everyone else does too. I thought Weightwatchers were the people we were supposed to be getting away from.

in that case the bmi must work perfectly for me. i have no muscle anywhere ever. i have one of those eh...soft physiques.

My parents follow Weightwatchers (although they don't go to the meetings, they just stole the info from my granny) and at one stage my dad looked seriously underweight yet the Weightwatchers information indicated that he was still a a few pounds overweight.

    BMI and Weightwatchers = stupid.

My BMI is 16.9, depending on the website. I just don't gain weight, not for lack of trying. I've been underweight since I lost my baby/toddler fat.

    5'7, 120lbs
I have a slender build. It's partly genetic, as my father has a slender frame as well, but I also eat well and work out regularly.

The BMI was the worst thing ever invented.
    It's ridiculous like..

Anyway, i'm carry many many pounds overweight! tbh i'm morbidly obese according to the BMI.

Yup..and run 10 miles twice a week no bother..hmm, morbidly obese is it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭Parsley

    I'm exactly 187cm and 75kg. About 6"1' I think... I'm bordering on underweight.

6 foot and between 8 and 8.5 stone, my BMI is 17 so I'm a bit underweight but I've started trying to put it on lately, I could easily put on 2 stone and it wouldn't even be noticable which is what I want, I'm trying to get up to 10 stone so I'll develope more defined curves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,986 ✭✭✭Red Hand

I'm pretty slim, around 6 foot in height and weigh about 11.5 to 12 stone.

I think I'd be a mesomorph in terms of body shape, though not overly so.

Underweight, not by a dangerous amount though.

I'm skinny, but working on it. :D Actually put on about a stone in the last year, luckily doesn't seem to be fat. There are no overweight types in my family, but that's not because we are healthy gym going types, it's because we eat fúck all. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

well in defence of BMI it's an easy way for doctors toshow someone they are overweight or obese and maybe knock some sense into them

    I'm not fat. It's glandular.

Used to be very skinny but luckily have filled out in the last couple of years. Hoping I'll stop filling out soon though :D

My BMI is 17.2 according to a random, and therefore reliable site. I'm about 5 foot 4 and I think I weigh around 100 pounds, not entirely sure because I live in metric-land. I'm quite small. Not doing much to lose weight, no, that would be a bad idea. I think the Leaving Cert is working the opposite on me anyway. Alas, constant snacking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,986 ✭✭✭Red Hand

It doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat, though?

I'm just normal, I have a pretty slender build, but I'm not in the "jesus you could do with a bucket of chicken love" gang either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭challengemaster

BMI is inaccurate as hell as Jer said ^, it doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat. A bodybuilder who's very well build would be said to be overweight if going by BMI.

Body fat % is much more accurate and what really counts.

    17, ~5'10-5'11" and somewhere around 10stone (60-64kg or thereabouts)

According to the height / weight charts, I am at the top end of OK - another one kilo to get into (slightly) overweight. 'twas muscle while I built the house, but alas no more... :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

6ft, in and around 85kg so fairly standard. Wouldn't mind toning up a bit more but other than that I'm quite happy having lost some weight recently.
