I just played a $5 sit & go on PPP but due to unforseen circumstances I sat out the whole game and finished 2nd. Has anyone else tried this and would it yield a profit in the long run?

Yes I've tried this on a sample size of around 10k sit n gos and it fairly consistenty gets you in the money, I even won a huge stars mtt playing this way after my HU opponent turned off his computer by mistake, this is capitalising on their mistakes and exploitable play.

I kept this to myself, but you have finally cracked it. It's gaurenteed profit, especially with a good raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakeback deal. I tip my hat to you.

Also multitabling and effectively implementing this strategy is surprisingly easy.

You're not supposed to talk about it, but a lot of this does go on. Unethical imo. AFAIK you can't be banned from a site for this, but Allen Cunningham was fired as a Full Tilt pro for this because it was considered unsportsmanlike, especially for a man in his position.

It has happened that I ran across the same player doing this on a couple of tables at the same time. On one it got 3 handed, including him, the other guy and me made a deal to blind him out

ok i dont want any grief for this but here is my take on SnG as i rekon they are my main game. mainly what u said about holding on to your chips at the start and only play top 3-4 premium hands. you will always get a few loose players who go down early everytime unless uve got aa kk never use more than 10% of ur chips as they become so valuable when it comes to the craphoot stage....for example i play $50-$100 nearly all day every day...5 seater example for the 50 one....3rd gets money back...2nd gets 75 1st get 125...now yes it is a grinding session i agree but i would back myself for at least top 3 every time. and i think its the easiest way to make money online.

Didn't mean to start any debates I was just curious if it was a once off for me or if it can actually could yield a profit. I just tried it there with a few $1 & $2 sit & go's and didn't make the money on any of them so I think it in the long run it wouldn't yield any profit... just my 2 cents!

your 2 cents may be overvalued:)

It is clearly a profitable situation, back on poker.ie which is micro gaming skin akaik one used to be able to play any 4 handed fixed limit holdem game and come 2nd 90% + of the time

From an angle shooters perspective, I'd make sure to have my tables open and look for any talk from my opponents wanting to blind me out. Report the players and get bumped up to 1st place!

But then again, playing yourself is far more profitable!

Its not unethical, its simply folding everyhand.
If a live player was oing it you'd be delighted.

This however is not only unethical, its cheating. Scum

This tactic also works well in live poker. I was in a casino in Europe recently playing poker and decided to fold every hand. I actually got dealt aces twice, but fold, fold.

Anyway I eventually got blinded out in 4th, which was actually 1 before the money. However, I refused to leave the table and just sat there and wouldn't budge, if anybody tried to talk to me I'd ignore them, and if anyone asked me vacate my seat I'd snap aggressively. Eventually, after 12 hours of this, the casino manager paid me to leave, and I left the casino with a tidy sum in my back pocket.

I suppose then you'd still be 'delighted' to get it all in with, I dunno, let's say Aces. Take a beat and finish 3rd watching the sit out cash. While you may say that's poker, quite frankly it's not. Sitting out every hand isn't poker as I would see it.

As for your 'Scum' comment, a little harsh I think. It's nice to see the mods keeping the place nice and friendly. Fair play and keep up the good work.
