    Weh-hey how did everyone do?

    I did ordinary level - half disappointed I never kept doing the honours this year, a foundation paper would have been harder. I was out the door in about 3/4's of a hour. :D

    Yea, I couldn't get over how hard it was, last years was easier. You know the one on the concentrated juice, how did u do that one? lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 828 ✭✭✭pp_me129

    It was easyy :D

    the jusice one 19:1 20 parts divide 500 by 20 and thats 25ml each part of 19:1 = 25ml

    part too same thing but with suge adn its 30ml..

    part 3 added both of them together and you get 28:2 or 14:1

    I think that paper 1 was pretty much as hard as the other years, only one i didn't get was the area of the inner section of the graph, i still have no idea how to do it

    Brilliant!!!!!!!!! Youve made me day cuz no one else in my class got that!!!!!

    you have to get the volume of ml in both and add the similiar ones together,
    and break it down!

    how many marks would you say were going for that?:pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 668 ✭✭✭ch252

    I found it tough, but by no means impossible. my graph was an epic failure, after that it was just little bits and pieces. I needed an extra booklet for it!

    most b questions are about 20 marks....but because it was the difficult part of the question......it might be worth 10 maximum

    the graph was easy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭aine92

    I found it really easy, i totally messed up the last question though, it was tricky! When i did my graph table and i was multiplying out -x2 by the xterms and i got HUGE numbers up to like 200 so i copped on i was wrong and did it right! Nearly started crying i didnt know what id done :eek::eek:

    Thought Maths Paper 1 was very easy, apart from the Loan Repayment Question

    The answer I got for the ratio question was 149:11 and I'm almost sure that is correct

    Here is how I did it

    Ratio = (475ml + 270ml) : (25ml + 30)
    Ratio = 745 : 55 (divide by 5)
    Ratio = 149 : 11

    That's it!

    Thats exactly the same answer that i got, I hope its right

    I messed up graph on Q6 i read it as as x2 (squared) rather than -x2. do you think that i will lose many marks?

    Well I dunno really what to think of that paper (Maths Higher Level). There were some questions such as the one on rounding to the nearest hundred that I felt were insulting to ones intelligence...I mean seriously adding on a higher level paper?? Although that was easy I think the rest of the paper was quite challenging. The second part of question one (c) completely confused me and to be honest I only figured out the answer by complete fluke in the last five seconds of the paper. I'd say that that will probably be one of the worst answered q's of the paper. The problem leading to a quadratic equation was alright though not that challenging. Oh for the one about the concentration of the juices did anyone get the ratio of like 149:11??:confused:

    Yes I got that too!!!:D:D:p

    149:11 is correct or u could even do 13.5:1

    or u could have done it the easy way and got 28:2 and just divided by 2 ^^ to get 14:1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭aine92

    I got 28:2 was that right?

    It was like 800ml=28:2?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 Colm07

    well not reli tbh cos if u just said 800=28:2 u wont get marks

    to get 28:2 u just added 19 (ratio of a) and 9(ratio of b) to get 28 and then 1+1
    which is 28:2 which is 14:1

    to get it with

    745:55
    divide by 5 to get
    149:11 and divide by 11 and get
    13.5:1
    or 14:1

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 668 ✭✭✭ch252

    Yea I got that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10 Burkie08

    uh uh.... i got like 13.5:1

    you have 2 put it something:1 ppl!!!!!!!!!

    but u prob wont lose marks !:)

    but did any1 get 13.5:1?? or something like dat?

    You were able to get the last part of c on question one? Nobody ive talked to was able to get that.

    That was easy
    You just put x=yearly repayment and you end up with an equation.
    Answer = something like 2650.something

    Yep that would be the right answer :)

    I found this paper pretty easy except part c in question 5/6.

    I got 149:11 on the ratio question as well... Part 1(c) took ages but I'm pretty sure I got it right.

    Didn't like paper 1 in the maths, but in saying that if I do as well in paper 2 I'd say I'll get the honour! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10 Burkie08

    i thinnk it was a reli easy paper
    but no sets indices or surds...its was reli unpredictable but it made ya think which is good
    instead of just learning off formulas

    No I didn't get it and have never come across it before. Most people guessed it and had no real method for it :confused:

    I don't know why anybody would have trouble with it, my method was to insert x as the amount which seems correct and it works out.

    Thought I should upload the paper as I've got nothing better for doing :L (What about studying for Paper 2? :L)

    Paper 1
    Question 1: http://imgpire.com/images/bm3c0e38ipf8s3z7xb4.jpg

    i was totally dissapointed with the paper..
    it started off simple.. i only had a difficulty with the last part of question 1 when he paid off the loan in two equal installments.
    but then in one of the questions it asked the find b and c and i totally forgot how to do it..
    i thought it was by far the hardest paper 1 of maths i have done, the previous years were much easier.

    Ya i guess it was just unusual and hadn't seen anything even similar to it in previous years i guess me and others just had no idea of where to start with it! :)

    I don't know why anybody would have trouble with it,

    Kind of a selfish and silly thing to say really!

    Of course there will always be people who find parts of questions difficult, otherwise why would we need to bother with Foundation, Ord level and higher level?? Also, just because you could do it, please don't insult others who did find it difficult. It's very disheartening. I'm sure you didn't mean it that way but it is a very thoughtless thing to say.
