Following nudging from Myth and Ronny here is the poll for the Boards Beers.

Each day during the week of the 9th and then options for later weeks. If a later week is the most preferred then there will be a new poll after 5 days. (All very proper this)

I am saying the Pav as a starting point and then move along as best suits the night.

6pm to suit those with jobs.

If anyone is feeling generous they sort out the awards.

Finally the nominations. I will post them below when I find the list. (found list)

    1. Best Mod
    2. Thread Of the Year
    3. Best comeback
    4. Best picture posted
    5. Rant of the Year
    6. Woohoo of the Year
    7. Best New Poster
    8. Antagonist of the Year
    9. Biggest Hack
    10. Biggest Spammer (but in a 'we love you' way)
    11. Most helpful poster
    12. Biggest ****up.
    13. Best lurker
    14. Poster of the Year

Hopefully it can be sorted that one of the mods can be pm'd to adjudicate.

    So vote away.

What about this Thursday or Friday? (sorry ApeX!). We can do the awards at the beers, like we did last time as far as I remember, cos it seems to be scaring people off at the moment.

In that case do it on Friday, there'll be tons of people at the pav anyway, so if anyone gets scared by "the people from the internet", they can talk to real life people instead. We can decide on a section of the grass to sit at (in fornt of the Moyne or something - in fact, that's exactly where the beers were four years ago!)

Will be heading home to vote on Thursday, so no can do. Bad thing about the Pav - we'll need enough present students to be with us (possibly to buy us booze)!

Nah, we'll be grand. Haven't had any issue in the last few weeks (though maybe that's just me, I do spend a disproportionate amount of time in the Pav).

So you could come if it was on Friday then? And maybe us ex-students could bring our old student cards or something, just in case? Otherwise we'll just get the young ones to buy us our beer ;)

Yeah I'd be up for Friday alright.

Where are those BESS people when you need them? Anthititititititic, xebec*, zaraba et al? It'd be good to get this sorted soon if it's going to be on Friday.

Also anyone who has never been to a TCD beer before should come along. There's been loads of new posters this year and it'd be nice to put a face to the names. Unless you're exceedingly ugly, naturellement.

*Ok, I know it's not technically BESS. Or indeed, actual BESS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,311 ✭✭✭xebec

I'm here, and I'm deffo not BESS!!! Em, I'm around on Friday, but it'll be late-ish before I can make it into town - like 2230 or 2300 - so will peoples still be going at that time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

Me, europerson and zaraba are off to a friend's on Friday. b.ie curious is out of the country.

Hrm, this doesn't sound like it will go down too well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭Ron DMC

Meh, I'll be in the pav anyway. I guess I'll see anyone who's there, but I don't reckon there's much point organising anything official.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

Looks like its not going to be tonight so!

Guess not. Ah well, pav anyway...

work and/or live in dublin i'd say

Apologies for my crapness - methinks summer may not be the best time to try to plan one of these. Perhaps a postponement of the official beers until September is in order?

meh - pick a date, give 8 days notice and shag those who are too busy.

    I agree.

    How about Friday week?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,626 ✭✭✭Stargal

Can we not have it on a Friday, if possible? Just cos people tend to get swayed if their real world friends end up going out on a Friday and are less likely to come along. What about Thursday week instead? That allows for the 8 days notice and everything...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,523 ✭✭✭ApeXaviour

Thursday 26th it is... title changed

I should be able to make that...

ApeX, will you be moved in by then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭Ron DMC

    Brilliant. 26th it is.
I've written it in my phone now and everything.

They can only tell if you leave them with the power of speech.

That depends on whether your flatmate has moved out.

I would also like to add my name to the negative column. I can't do school nights. At least, I can't do school nights for the first week of my employment.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 23,243 Mod ✭✭✭✭godtabh

What time is it allgona kick off?

I might call in after work but wont be staying late and depends on how busy I am

Oh, come in anyway. At least for a while. If we start at 6 you can leave by 8. Deal?
You don't necessarily have to imbibe any alcohol if you're worried about being hungover.

Well it doesn't seem like people are up for a mad late one, so I reckon we should start as early as possible. I myself will aim to be there for 5.30/6.00ish if people are interested.

Come on, I miss ya like. I won't be stayin late, you'll be fine, first impression has been made and set already. You actually have no excuse not to at least turn up and say howdy.

My inability to moderate alcohol intake is, I believe, well documented.

Not really. Tomorrow is actually my first day in the office. I've been attending a delightful conference on regional shipping trends all week.

    Agreed.

I'm hoping to be there but it depends on how much of this work I get done today. Hopefully all of it.
