Any unsalted and unroasted nuts have a place of a well balanced healthy diet.

Its not your mates fault that you don't exercise. I don't see what you're trying to achieve by bitching about them on boards?

If you want to loose fat you have to eat well and exercise - end of. There are no easy short-cuts that somebody is going to suggest to you here.

    Re-read the stickies.

    As an absolute STARTING POINT....

-no fizzy drinks (water, plain or mixed with no sugar robinsons, or if you MUST diet 7up, tho no more than 500ml a day certainly)
    -no chocolate/sweets etc
-no fast food (maybe ONE per week, and ONLY one, don't go overboard either, a regular meal at maccyD's or a medium pizza, with a DIET drink)

Make sure you've something small every 3 hours. A handful of nuts, some chicken, half a sandwhich, you get the idea. I can't stress the importance of that enough. If you eat small amounts throughout the day it will stop you from getting hungry and snacking. I'm dieting down at the moment and the hardest part is making myself eat every 3 hours. I'm not force feeding by any means, but it can be tedious eating so often. But I know if I don't I'll just get hungry and grab whatever I can find. A bit of planning goes a long way.

Stick to the above rigidly for 2 or 3 weeks. Measure your waist size and weight at the start and end. Because of the weight you are now the above should net you a decent enough weightloss anyway.

as far as exercising goes, something like getting off the bus a few stops early will make a bit of a difference, and is easier than finding the motivation to go to the gym

OP, I've a feeling you're going to get absolutely slated here.

Your mates won't go to the gym? Then go by yourself! And why just the gym as an exercise option? Why not go walking/cycling every evening? The weather's good, the evenings are long, you've a perfect opportunity.

Ok , 21 stone is a lot. Why do you find it so hard to eat properly at weekends?

Drink 3 litres of water per day, no fizzy drinks.

Eat 6 times per day, breakfast, mid morning, lunch, mid afternoon, evening, 9pm or so.
This doesnt mean 6 large meals. It can be as small as a handful of unsalted nuts or a piece of fruit to keep your metabolism ticking over. Very important.

Cut out junk food altogether. Its not that hard, and once you do you'll lose the craving for it.

Its very hard to stick to eating right if you dont plan. If you come home from work and theres nothing in the fridge, its all to easy to go to the local spar etc. and pick up junk.

Plan your meals, cook something that will last for 2 or 3 days maybe,. Do a weekly shop

Try to get cardio or 30 mins or so at least 3 times a week

Good luck. It's all down to willpower.

if i cool spagetti bolognese , id like to make enough for a few days

but im wary of how long to keep it ?? freeze it and how long after u cool it can you freeze it ?? how to defrost it proper etc

leave it for an hour or so to cool and you can pop it in the freezer then. as for defrosting, either leave it in the fridge overnight, or microwave it from frozen til it's totally hot through

If I was drastically trying to loose weight I would cut stuff like spagetti bolognese, pasta, bread, rice, beer, sweets and fizzy stuff out altogether.

Have porridge with water (not milk) for breakfast.

Chop up a mountain of veg a few times a week. Store it in plastic boxes in the fridge. Stuff like:
    • carrots
    • broccoli
    • cauliflower
    • peppers (green/red/yellow)
    • onions

Drink buckets of water to flush your system. (It will also keep you active as you have to get up and go to the bathroom more often - walking 100m to the bathroom 10 times a day will give you 5km extra exercise per week (at work)).

When you want a change from munching on your raw veg above, you can choose to stirfry it with chicken and stow it in your little containers. Using smaller ones will limit your meal size.

Snack on nuts (almonds are my fav) with grapes & water for a mini snack if you are crazy hungry around 11am or 3pm. Bring your chopped veg to the office for lunch time in a plastic containers. Don't be lured into getting a sandwich full of crappy dressings and half moldy bread.

In the evening if you get peckish have a can of tuna. It may not seem too tasty but will fill you up and contribute a good wack of protein, with little carbs.

Stop passing the buck and get yourself in gear! Report back in 3 months with new and old measurements. Good luck.
