I remember reading a post from some dude who is 60 I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,647 ✭✭✭✭El Weirdo

I'm sure there's plenty of older boardsies around the site but I don't think that you'll find too many of them here in AH. I may be wrong though. It all depends on what you class as "older" though, doesn't it?

If you got to the Birthdays list, there's a few posters who apparently turn 60 today!

    Paddy20?

Quite a character alright. I think Smashey might be older than Hagar, not too sure afaik.

You'd never guess Hagar's age from reading his posts though!

    <genuine question>

Do the 'older people' on boards sometimes see a few topics go over your heads? Like do you sometimes not know what young 'uns are on about?

My dad is 49 and learned how to text this year. I tried explaining what lol meant but gave up after a while. Didn't even go into yore ma. lol :o

I wouldn't bet on the accuracy of most of them.

Yeah, Tar.Aldarion's profile says she was born in 1902. But I suspect that she may be lying :)

I think obiously if they are over our heads we would just ignore them ?

49 your dads age , is not actually past it stage now is it ? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

I can rarely tell the age of anyone on boards. I do feel young now though!

Also, OP, 48 is not old. So even if you were the oldest, you still wouldn't be old.

I'm looking at it from the perspective of having a 50 year old father who is like a 20 year old though, so those with 'old' 50 year old parents might disagree!

As above, I can't believe people think 49 is old/past it!

Oh it definitely is. These guys were only in their 20s in the 80s, early 30s in the 90s. And guys of that age seem to look after themselves a lot more now too. Sure, there was a time when mid 40s for men meant pipe and slippers - definitely not any more though.

Given I'm 40 I'm glad Dudess posts this stuff. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I remember starting a job when I was 23 and being disappointed by the lack of eye candy. Few days later a HOT young fella came back from his holidays so I was chuffed and immediately set about sussing what his romantic situation was. Turns out this "young fella" was 41. He looked after himself so well though. Come to think of it, Brad Pitt's 43.

Completely agree. Most of the men in their 40s that I know are far from the pipe and slippers. I know men in their 50s who are far away from the pipe and slippers.

I often wonder if the stereotype of the little old man/woman in old man/woman clothes will have disappeared in 50 years. I mean, I litterly know of one young person who I can imagine wearing old lady clothes and complaining like old ladies do when she's old. (She wears old lady clothes and complains like an old lady already.)

Think some teens/20 somthings grow up faster than others and adopt older persons habits good and bad, could be sombody in family which can make them seem a lot older .
