I'm intent on playing it, although if I haven't satellited into the SE game by then I might hit the satellite instead.

I'll give it a spin with my new strategy. I've discovered that I enjoy short stack play so much that I plan to donk off most of my chips in the first level and then play from my comfort zone.

Yes I also find that strategy very good, in fact I have called it my Short Stack Ninja Poker strategy.

I mean who need 8k in chips, lol

You can give me your chips in the first level if you want Lawrence, I'll be there.

I will be there, i have a flight at 6am though so what time does it normally finish?

I expect to win this so finish time could be a deciding factor:D

Last month we did a deal 4 handed at 4.20am. It has certainly gone on towards 6am on occasion though.

A good rant it was too Olly. You should play on Thursday night.

:D I'm glad you appreciated it.

I can't play on a Thursday night in the anticipation of a 6am finish with work on Friday unfortunately. :( This is the primary reason I play cash nowadays.

By the way Vinnie left the table 3 hands after you spoke to me. :(:( He must have been scared because he hung around the club for another 2 hours not playing just watching!!

It was hilarious in the cash games in the Fitz on Sunday, some fish asks me do I play regularly and I give him the old "once a week or so around town but I haven't played in a month and its been at least 6 months since I played in here........" and he starts giving me advice and everything whilst calling 30 BB raises from utg limpers with A7o and then stacking off on JJ7 flops!!! :D:D The fact that he spiked an Ace on the river was even better!!!! :)

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

So you were outplayed then Olly? Admit it.

    5starpool wrote: »

Well I guess I was technically :D I had AK otb and five limpers and I pot bet to 15 with AK. Fishy McFish snap calls from the blinds and Chinese Alan repots from utg. I fold once I've asked Alan did he limp blind and he confirmed that he hadn't (of course he has KK here ). Mr Fish snap calls. :D

The rest of the monies (130 or so) goes in on the flop of JT7 (I was wrong earlier in that the turn paired the jack afair) and they both turn over their hands.

The turn pairs the jack and the river brings an Ace. I burst my sh1te laughing on the inside whilst congratulating Mr Fish but i guess I should have been too busy remonstrating with myself for not stacking off with AK like a good little boy - BBJ style like!!!

P.S. You should probably delete all this nonsense btw. We're totally derailing the thread with noise.

It ain't exactly a high content thread tbh. It'll still serve it's purpose.

I will just have to play very aggressively and knock them all out before 4am then

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Advertised as sats from 5pm but will start once they get enough runners for a table. If you turn up at 6.30 there should be no problem getting in a sat anyhow. I think they are €30 for a 1 ticket sat.

Just to make it easier, I'll help knocking them out, and then we can split is as you have to leave for the airport.

As Dom said...I'll be in the club from 5pm taking names for satellites and they'll kick off as soon as I get enough for one to start.

There are 3 types of satellites that can be played: 50 6-handed, 1 ticket, 30 euro 10-handed with 1 ticket and 60 euro, 10-handed with 2 tickets.

I'm definitely going, but the brother can't make it, so I've been forced to draft in a replacement brother, Mark Dalimore (final tableist at the most recent GUKPT event in Newcastle).

    Unlucky smurph.

Very enjoyable tournament as ever, even if I never really got going myself. Got very few hands, and the few I did get seemed to be running into better ones, or being outflopped.

Also enjoyed watching my mouthy English mate Mark in action on the pot limit cash table, even if I think he was close to getting us barred at some points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭semibluff

    Nice result mark, well done

went out 12th myself - raise utg, call on button Reilly110 pushes for over60k. I have KK - no good against QQ for 35 odd BB's

bit frustrating as smurph said, but enjoyable up to that - gonna win them 50/50's! lol

He certainly was mouthy. Was at the same table as me in the tourne for about 20 mins and I don't think he shut up once.

Not mouthy in a bad way, but he never did shut up, talking to Paul Leckey most of the time.

Hey Reilly, which one were you? I was in the 1 seat at the FT. I busted a disappointing 5th after going card dead and opportunity dead when the blinds got big.

Yeah, I think they played together in some EPT event and tangoed a few times.

Mark's probably the most interesting player I played with in Newcastle, and one of the best. Probably the second best exponent of speech play I've ever encountered (after our own Nicky Power). He was kinda responsible for my exit there in a sense, in that he tilted a guy who as a result bluffed another guy, tilting him and causing him to go all in with 87 on the button when I had 99 in the SB, and subsequently sucking out on me.

Anyway, Mark will be in to tear up the Sporting Emporium tonight, so be prepared to continually call the "No speechplay" house rule on him if you run into him :D

reilly was in seat 3 - tall guy with glasses

I really thought when final table formed that Derek (seat 2) and yourself
Oz would finish in top 3.

    Not sure of exact order

    1. Marcus
    2. Reilly110
    3. Des the bookie
    4. Derek
    5. OZ
    6. Me
    7. Italian lad (stefanos brother)
    8. Pat vickers

This is as good as I can remember placings

It is sick to get so far OZ and fall short mainly due to game conditions (push fest)
I was in seat 9 btw.

I was hoping for a big score in this for my Vegas fund. Ah well back to the
    grind!

He is not talking about East Europena hockey markus, Marc. This is an Irish lad he is talking about I am fairly sure.
